As much as I don’t wana bring tribal talk into this, you see in yoruba upbringing aside pikin wey no collect training ,you can’t visit someone and see someone older doing something and jst sit body go dey pepper you, even if they say don’t worry sit or stand with them, how much more living with them
Nobody talks about how lonely the scholarship application process is.
You are researching at midnight while everyone around you has moved on.
You are rewriting the same statement of purpose for the seventh time and still not sure it is good enough.
You are waiting on a recommendation letter from a professor who has not replied in two weeks.
You are watching people around you get opportunities and wondering if your turn is coming.
It is a quiet, exhausting process.
And most people doing it are doing it completely alone.
If that is you right now, keep going.
The ones who make it are rarely the most talented.
They are the ones who refused to stop.
One thing about me, I can never get tired of learning and gaining new knowledge to always give my clients the best and put traditional medicine in a good light.
🪴
Thats why I just registered for another course ‘Herbal Standardization Techniques’ where I’ll be able to do more research work on plants and how best to use them to take care of our health.

Note: Whatever herbal medicine you’re getting from this brand is from the best source. It will only get better.

Personal Statement and Statement of Purpose are not interchangeable.
One of the biggest mistakes I see in graduate school applications is putting the right story in the wrong document.
PS & SOP serve different roles, and admissions committees read them with different expectations.
Here’s how to decide where each story belongs.
⸻
Personal Statement
➜ This is about you as a person
Think identity, motivation, and lived experience.
➤ Why this path matters to you
➤ Moments that shaped your values or perspective
➤ Challenges, turning points, or defining experiences
➤ How your background informs your goals
↳ This is where personal context belongs
↳ This is where growth and self-awareness show up
→ If it answers “Who are you, and why does this journey matter?”
→ It belongs in the Personal Statement
⸻
Statement of Purpose (SOP)
➜ This is about you as a scholar or professional
Think clarity, preparation, and direction.
➤ Academic interests and research focus
➤ Skills and training you bring
➤ Why this program, this department, this moment
➤ How your goals align with faculty, structure, or resources
↳ This is not a life story (an advice from my advisor)
↳ This is an argument for fit and readiness
→ If it answers “What do you want to study and why here?”
→ It belongs in the SOP
⸻
Where applicants often go wrong
➤ Turning the SOP into a memoir
➤ Repeating the same story word-for-word in both documents
➤ Explaining trauma without connecting it to direction
➤ Listing achievements without purpose or coherence
→ Depth matters more than drama
→ Clarity matters more than emotion
⸻
A simple rule I give my mentees
→ Personal Statement = Why this path makes sense for you
→ Statement of Purpose = Why you make sense for the program
When each document does its job, they complement each other instead of competing.
💬 Which one did you struggle with more when applying?
