This is so disappointing. 9 out of 50 states ban discriminating over a black women’s hair. Let me say that again 9/50! It is ridiculous that hair is causing such a problem. That is why the crown act came into place in the first place. We have to do better! #SUsocialwork

Oregon’s House passed a bill to ban discrimination against hairstyles associated with race, like braids and locs.

It still needs a Senate vote. Black women are 1.5X more likely to be sent home from work because of their hair.

Only 9 states ban such discrimination.

Closing arguments today. 45 witnesses over three weeks, 38 of them for the prosecution. The defense used racist tropes, drug use, and Mr. Floyd’s size and strength to try and turn this murder into proper policing. It wasn’t. The world watches and waits for justice.
