Is the BoE making life much more difficult for the government? Is QT a politically motivated policy? They could just let the QE debt stand on their books until redemption.
@BBCr4today Bond markets. The actions of the BoE are a major factor in UK bond market. BoE is the only Central Bank dumping debt bought under QE pushing up yields. It's making taxpayers pay more.
@PJTheEconomist Why isn't the upward pressure on prices from extreme wealth looking for something in which to gainfully invest a listed problem?
Maybe more tax on brand licence fees (used to move revenue outside UK), ownership of more than 7 houses for rent and subscriptions would help.
UK Vet Prices. Ask your interviewees to compare the cost of cleaning a dog's teeth in UK and France. France charges approx. 30% of UK bets.
Private equity owners and the Chief Vet are ripping us off.

@GoodLawProject I thought the problem was vulnerable women being subjected to harassment by men pretending to be transwomen to gain access to a safe space. Now such nasty men don't have to pretend, just say they are a transman at the end of their transition.
@GoodLawProject The new interpretation of the Equality Act changes the legal challenge of the justification an organisation used to make a service trans-exclusive or trans-inclusive. It seems to me the ruling was hijacked and used as an excuse for making UK more transphobic.
Being inclusive by default seems compliant with the Eq Act. Exclusion has to be justified and reasonable under the act now and before. The Eq Act seems reasonable and humane.

Feeling socially awkward about something is an unbelievably strong emotional driver because whenever we are in public we are always conscious of how we appear. There are things we won't do because we don't want to stand out in public.

@GoodLawProject Has anyone tried to read the Equality Act? My reading suggests that it was always possible to exclude a trans person from a single sex service if justified & reasonable. The SC ruling means providers must now justify excluding trans people from single sex services.

I would advise not doing so if you can read your own meters every month. They are of poor design that do not provide the important consumption data to the DNO
@DrNeenaJha It's not the profits & dividends that would concern me, it's the business debts, which attract interest payments. Debts have precedence over shareholder dividends.
Macquarie as majority shareholder, loaded Thames Water with debt that had to be paid back when they exited.
@natalieben It likely needs to go through the formal process of going bust to trigger useful clauses for public management. I would not want taxpayers to bail out current shareholders that weren't diligent.
@TeamGB Well done Emma Wilson! You dominated open rounds.
Design of Final is a bit weird. Had to check the docs. Seemed to award medal on just one race. To me it devalues the difference in achievement between G, S & B that you see in other sports. I guess it's for TV ratings.
Venezuela's present squabble misses the point. Burying heads in oil sands?
The economy depends on oil. It seems likely that Solar-Wind-Battery will soon take over the world's energy role from oil because it's cheaper.
What will Venezuela use for income in 10 years?
Hi @NinaEvaCurtis. A plea if I may. If you are commentating on windsurfing, would you please call the boards a board and not a boat? Boards have noses not bows. Boards skim across the surface not through the water. It's weird how it niggles. Thank you and good luck.
@paullewismoney Spreadsheets are too easy to corrupt accidentally when working under pressure; users do not double check the results and intermediate calculations every time a result is used; there is no easy way to manage version control, quality control and rarely any formal testing.
