🚨 ¿Por qué Semarnat cambió de opinión sobre el proyecto en Chuburná?

En diciembre de 2023, la Semarnat rechazó el proyecto Las Dunas al considerar que era incompatible con una zona catalogada como altamente vulnerable. Sin embargo, en abril de 2025 terminó otorgando la autorización de impacto ambiental de forma condicionada.

El proyecto para construir 14 edificios de departamentos no cambió, ni tampoco las características ambientales del sitio. Lo que sí cambió fueron el Programa Estatal de Ordenamiento Territorial y Desarrollo Urbano de Yucatán y el Plan Municipal de Desarrollo Urbano de Progreso, cuyas actualizaciones redefinieron la zonificación aplicable.

Con esos nuevos instrumentos de planeación, además de permisos estatales y municipales ya obtenidos, la empresa Auralux volvió a presentar el proyecto ante la Semarnat y consiguió la autorización. También redujo en 112 millones de pesos el monto de inversión anunciado.

Para la canacome y el alcalde Erick Rihani de Progreso #Yucatan esto es maravilloso... Chuburná no para de crecer y en el caso del desarrollo inmobiliario Las Dunas, defienden a priori la inversión por ser de los Chapur.

No es sólo el desarrollo inmobiliario de lujo Las Dunas... Todo lo están parcelando para construir en Chuburná, #Yucatán... No dejan de una hierva...

Semarnat dio permisos en 2024 y Profepa clausura ahora en 2026. Desarrollo Las Dunas suspendida la obra en lo que se calma la gente... Luego reiniciarán, por todos lados hay edificaciones nuevas. Casas lineales, predios privados. El crecimiento en Progreso, #Yucatán es una marea sin freno.

Ahí está senadora @veronicacamino el permiso de la @SEMARNAT_mx que ostenta el desarrollo inmobiliario en Chuburná de la familia Chapur y suspendido ayer por la @PROFEPA_Mx . Por si no lo encuentra. Otorgado en la anterior administración federal. Foto tomada ayer, precisamente. Cabe señalar que la línea de construcciones llega justo hasta el desarrollo "Las Dunas", es decir, hay una invasión de construcciones en toda la zona, no están dejando una mata en pie para construir casas para extranjeros, los llamados "lofts", casas lineales. Tenemos vídeos, por si le interesa. Y lo peor es que gran parte del litoral de Yucatán ya no tiene playa, sobre todo Progreso, por la erosión costera. De allí que la rebatinga por ese pedazo de "paraíso" sin mayor protección por parte de las autoridades de los tres niveles haya estallado.

🇮🇱 🇲🇽 Mexico bought more guns from Israel than from any other country last year, even as President Sheinbaum condemned genocide in Gaza.

Amid genocide in Gaza and Israel’s wider regional war, Mexico's government bought more firearms from Israel than from any other country in 2025, according to Mexico's report to the UN Arms Trade Treaty, in an analysis by Stop US Arms to Mexico published in NACLA.

The nearly 18,000 assault rifles, light machine guns, and pistols made up 37% of all firearms Mexico imported that year, more than triple its 2024 purchases and just ahead of the US. Most were bought by state police, as no federal policy in Mexico blocks the imports.

The reliance on foreign arms reflects a security bind: Mexico is fighting heavily armed cartels supplied largely by what analysts call the “iron river” of guns flowing south from the US, where an estimated 80% to 90% of firearms recovered in Mexico originate.

Still, the purchases highlight a contradiction in Sheinbaum's stance: her government has elevated Palestine's mission to embassy status and labeled Israel's actions "genocide" in September 2025, yet deepened its weapons ties with Israel.

I am writing these words to you from inside Gaza City, and I say this with complete honesty: the situation has become extremely dangerous, perhaps worse than ever before.

Temperatures continue to rise, and the tents have turned into real ovens. More than 170,000 tents across Gaza City are sheltering thousands of families in conditions that are impossible to describe. Inside these tents, temperatures exceed 50°C (122°F). There is no electricity, no fans, no air conditioning, and none of the basic necessities needed to survive.

The tents are packed tightly together, with almost no space between them. Many families are forced to leave their tents and sit in the streets because remaining inside has become unbearable.

Water is desperately scarce, and the extreme heat is making thirst even more severe. And this is only the beginning of summer. Every day, I see the effects of the intense heat on children’s bodies heat rashes, exhaustion, and suffering while insects emerging from the ground make life even harder.

The coming days could be even more devastating if these conditions continue. The tents are no longer places of shelter; they have become another source of danger.

Please don’t let these families be forgotten. Speak about them. Write about them. Share their stories with others. Keep their voices alive and let the world know what is happening. Behind every tent is a family struggling to survive.

They need to be seen, they need to be heard, and they need your solidarity.

Despite the so-called "ceasefire" agreement, the situation in Gaza remains extraordinarily difficult. The occupation army continues violating the ceasefire by bombing Palestinians and blocking most aid from entering. Merchants have taken advantage of the situation and charge astronomical prices for necessary goods, like food, water, clothing, and medicine.

Amidst all the hardship, something beautiful has happened: I am about to get married. I am not asking for wedding help, but would like to ask for help in starting our life.
