@Heroicmindset Of course. That's was our medieval state. Its not about some heroism to defend your own borders...its the expected thing to do. I never said otherwise.
A perfect example of how silly online posts end up being presented as "facts" later on 🤦🏻♂️
-Greece and Cyprus share the same Anthem: Hymn to Liberty by Dionysios Solomos.
The Anthem uses only the first 2 stanzas of the poem (158 stanzas), and the word "Turk" does NOT appear!
@Heroicmindset Greeks who ended up were under the Ottomans 😅
I say simply that won't support Venice in any regard when their place (for me and my sentiments) shouldn't have been here are conquerors...but as supporters and allies.
@Heroicmindset And for your information, that's a kind of talk that Turks usually do...
We don't hate Venice and we don't have issues with our past under Venice...at all. I mean, Greeks of the Ionian islands used this fact to appear as more posh towards the other
@Heroicmindset Yeah I suppose you're right in that respect...
Or course it's understandable that brings memories of another foreign rule when you mention Venice or another powers "defending their territories" in the East. Anyway...
@Heroicmindset To clarify: I don't equate the latins with the Turks. Neither I make arguments that they are similarly horrible of their actions.
U simply won't going to find me defending Venice in any conceivable scenario I can think of
@Heroicmindset I agree. And sorry if you feel insulted. But we are talking about a foreign rule in both cases. They were Christians alright but that didn't make them better to how they approach the native populace. Sorry that I don't like any foreign rule.
@Heroicmindset There's some truth in it, although there are conflicting explanations for the whole event. Anyway, I agree that this was terrible...I don't find it ok at all....but that's not a justification for invading, dismantling a country and occupying foreign people.
@Heroicmindset the first place. Although, of course their rule was 100% more beneficial, having a whole Renaissance movement with them, with the development of arts, literature and political ideas that Greeks under the Ottomans missed. But that's besides the point.
@Heroicmindset be hateful towards Venice but I simply not going to pretend that they had more rights to be here than the Turks...
We don't owe them anything and whatever defend they did, they didn't do it for us...to protect Christian Greeks...if they cared about that, they wouldn't be there in
