@ChasingKia Tyler gives the community comfort food content.
The indie filmmakers can do the same but in many cases they're making films that only a miniscule part of the community want.
And then they blame them for not watching films that aren't even close to appealing to most people.
@Eon1Eno Knowing where you're from and having family that you know there gives you roots and a true identity.
But when you don't have that because your past was erased due to slavery you're rootless & homeless & you can be brainwashed into believing that you're someone that you're not.
@writtenbytruth Most people aren't multi millionaires who can financially leave an extensive legacy like her.
So like virtually all organisms on earth your children will have to be your legacy instead.
@TigoODonnell Correct. And I recall how Kripke mentioned years ago that superheroes are basically cops.
Because their jobs are just to fix a problem so society can go back to the status quo.
Not to fundamentally change things.
And when they try to (Magneto) they're viewed as "villains."
@asterofpuppets False. Since Aliens is a tremendous film with an actual emotional core and a great plot.
Prometheus and Covenant by contrast didn't even know what they were supposed to be because Scott didn't understand what kinds of movies he was making.
@AISafetyMemes It's totally awesome that every week a new story pops up about AI doing something that's only barely stopped and that sounds like the beginning of a dystopian cyberpunk film and most people are pretending that nothing is amiss.
@LimYenKheng Because for decades they pretended that dark energy and dark matter existed.
Writing books and papers about it and now it turns out they never existed and never needed to exist.
And they only thought so due to a profound misunderstanding of nature & the rejection of critics.
@thoughtographic Alien is nothing but a haunted house movie in space.
Aliens by contrast has an emotional & coherent plot & Cameron knows how to film great action scenes.
Alien 3 is a joke.
Prometheus & Covenant are complete wastes of money & potential.
Romulus by contrast had a good plot.
@asterroyds Prometheus is terrible because the theme: finding out about the engineers is ruined by Ridley deleting the scene of the engineer talking to the humans.
So he's shown bizarrely slaughtering everyone.
Covenant is incoherent garbage.
And Romulus by contrast has a sensible plot.
@_ChristopherM Also it shows how space travel was never going to work because human beings are simply unsuited for it since they don't belong on other planets.
So they have all these health problems and issues because of that.
And Weyland et al doesn't care because their focus is on profits.
@MovieDisciple This has been mentioned before but Prometheus had interesting ideas but didn't explore them because Scott had no interest in doing so.
Such as deleting the one scene where the characters hear from an engineer himself.
And Covenant was driven by an incoherent & pointless story.
@NatureIsaTERF@LoinDuTribu Africa would be just fine without the 500 year long parasitic colonialistic & mass kidnapping period that sabotaged its development.
But, without the abundant stolen labor & resources of Africa that europeans took to fuel their development, how much poorer would they be now?
@TheChrisLambert The actual problem is that Ridley didn't care about the themes brought forth in Promethesus because he forgot them and decided to make a generic space sci fi film with characters that acted foolishly instead.
And in Covenant he abandoned logic & having a coherent theme entirely.
