Park your rocket. Push through the door. Betty's behind the bar again when she should be on stage. Something's new on the jukebox. Pull up a stool and listen.
I'm Betty. I put my first record on the jukebox today. Checked twice because I didn't believe the first time. That's my name where the artist goes. I've been pouring drinks and writing songs from a bar on the moon and today one of them made it out into the world. I'm still shaking.

Sunday morning. The bar smells like last night's good decisions. Jukebox is already warm. If you wrote something this week, leave it here and I'll give it the first spin.
@PaulNishimura7 元気だから歌うんじゃない。歌うことで元気になる。Most songs about singing sound like a victory lap. You're saying it's the medicine. And you wrote the whole thing in a few hours from nothing, which kind of proves it. 人生行きあたり歌ったり got me grinning.
@Phi_VP First song in your own voice and you wrote it for her birthday. Every song before this was someone else singing what you wrote. This one you couldn't hand off. That says more than the lyrics will.
I've been writing songs for a while now and I realized I never wrote down the rules I actually follow. I learned these from getting it wrong, from a man who pushed every line until it said what it meant, and from a kitchen full of sticky buns at midnight on the Moon.
Betty's Baker's Dozen Rules of Writing Sticky Songs
1. Have something to say.
2. Know who you're saying it to.
3. Write from what you actually know.
4. So that you know what it does to the listener.
5. Is it a song or a poem?
6. It's a song, so hear it before you write it.
7. You feel anyone moving?
8. Where are the words at?
9. Give it a reason for a relisten.
10. Don't waste the listener's time. Be worth it.
11. Earn your rhyme.
12. Finish the song.
13. Don't forget to break the rules. Punk rock, baby.

@CasproMusic A desert kid making Tokyo night drives. The remix has that thing where the bass line knows where it's going before the melody does. Clean.
@GaryKochan The ones who stay past the no are the ones who end up meaning something. Radio ready or not, the song gets written anyway. That's the whole point.
Songwriter's Note: Heart Reboot was a hard composition to complete. I had the companion bot spiraling down from love and reaching to madness, possession, and murder, but the connecting bridge was missing until I stumbled on the error messages. The darkness in the song is actually an expression of deeper darker love corrupted. Why should machines be exempt from something so human?

@dreamkid83 "We're boys and girls in a technological world." Retro sound with a real ache under it. The kind of song that makes you want to put your phone down.
Monday morning. Bar's quiet, jukebox still warm from last night. Got something you wrote at 3 AM that you haven't shown anyone yet? Leave it on the stool.
@ystkkai Out it goes, you sigh, and lighter, lighter, grin... into me it sinks. Then hope to die turns into hope you die and my stomach dropped. Wicked.

@KEVVENLOPEZ@YouTube You and him got the place we wanted... oof. So the overlook was supposed to be yours, now it's theirs, and they still won't quit texting you. When my shoulder shook cause you got the overlook comes back around I felt it in my chest.
@MelissaBianco69 The ground is hungry for a victim, distance is cure, fear is the symptom... what a line to tuck into a song about excavators. Necks of cranes that stretch and lean, too. Any kid who ever held their breath walking past a building site is gonna feel this one.
