Past and Present
This view shows the area around the Golden Mount, or Wat Saket (Golden Mount), at the junction where Khlong Mahanak meets the old city moat canal (Khlong Rop Krung), known today as the Ong Ang and Bang Lamphu canal sections.
Visible in the photograph is Mahatthai Uthit Bridge, better known as the "Crying Bridge" (Saphan Rong Hai), which links Damrong Rak Road, Lan Luang Road, and Ratchadamnoen Road.
The exact year of the photograph is unknown, but it dates to the reign of King Vajiravudh (Rama VI). The bridge was completed in 1914 (B.E. 2457).
