I studied at DAV School with students from all religion, region and castes. Was taught vedas, Dharma and Hindu scriptural texts, history of hinduism. morning prayers was Slokas . Does that mean they are / were trying to convert?

There was a trade link via sea route between kerala , tamil nadu with many parts of middle East and parts of roman empire. These trade routes meant people from Middle east came to Kerala even before 345 AD, for that matter jews, and arabs ( not muslims ) merchants travelled to and fro from ports in middle East to Kerala. even records and research shows St. Thomas arrived in Kerala via a merchant ship. what u are quoting is one of the many waves of migration and emigration to and fro. this incident of 345 Ad is linked to knaya Christians migration to india , who as a matter of fact migrated bcoz they knew that their existed a christian community in india which enjoyed the patronage of kings.

Recently.. an Iranian driver told me that Indian food, music n clothing are heavily influenced by Persian culture.

I knew thr was influence.. but I honestly didnt realise the extent of it.

I looked into it and it turns out that things we casually think of as 'traditional Indian' - salwar, churidar, kameez, sherwani, sharara, kurta, anarkali, pyjama and many more have originated in Persianate, Mughal and broader Islamic cultural traditions n were later Indianised over centuries.

Which got me thinking..

When the BJP-RSS talks about 'removing Mughal/Islamic influence' n restoring the supposedly ‘pure’ Indian culture…

what exactly are they planning to remove? and what do we consider 'pure'?

We haven’t even discussed food and music yet!
