🚨New paper out in JEP:HPP with @AndreSahakian@SuryaGayet Chris Paffen @SvanderStigchel!In this study, we asked whether memory traces are formed for items that have not yet been selected for immediate action, while we are actively sampling targets for imminent action.
New paper out by the awesome Luzi Xu!
We asked whether mere exposure to (currently disregarded) visual objects, expedites encoding of these objects into memory when we select them for action later. Our data show that we passively build up memory traces for (non-selected) items.
🚨My first paper with @SamsonChota@LUZIXU1@SvanderStigchel@SuryaGayet accepted in Consciousness and Cognition (https://t.co/LWR3gbdOAK)
We asked whether the impact of VWM content on early visual processing depends on the priority state of memory items
This Friday (29-11) @HelmholtzSchool are hosting another public lecture. All are welcome to attend!
The lecture starts at 16.00 in Ruppert Paars, with drinks afterwards.

We are looking for a new colleague!
#Vacancy for a 4 year fully-funded PhD position in cognitive psychology. The candidate will investigate individual differences in the spotlight of visual attention.
Apply before October 6th!

New article w/ @arora__borealis!
A recent paper (@freekvanede@KiaNobre) found a neural correlate of sampling from memory representations to guide decision-making. We discuss the findings and provide future steps.
Now in Journal of Neuroscience

Excited to share the full lineup of Helmholtz Lectures for this year’s series 🎓 Visit our website for details on locations and abstracts: https://t.co/BV54TTXyBc
@onlyheretoyap Unfortunately, PhD programmes in the Netherlands require a MSc degree before starting. Utrecht does offer many master's programmes though https://t.co/P6GLUYLFtR
Good luck!

New article in AP&P! Quick 4-tweet thread below:
1/ Humans rely heavily on the external world as an "external memory store". This has been shown time and time again. Here we wondered if this changes when items have time to consolidate in memory.

Congrats to Luzi on this awesome PsychScience paper, which has already been picked up by news outlets!
See https://t.co/oxxt3yoVKB and Luzi's links below 🥳
New paper out in @PsychScience with @chrispaffen, @SvanderStigchel, & @SuryaGayet. We used three distinct paradigms and consistently found that statistical learning influences the prioritization of visual objects in accessing consciousness.

New preprint alert!
In the first project of my PhD, we use RIFT to show that the visual system is not passively recruiting mechanisms of external attention for prioritization in VWM, but is instead using space as an organizational principle to store and select items in VWM.
We have a few datasets which didn't warrant standalone publications, but shouldn't go to waste.
Here are 3 visual search datasets (4 exps, total N=151) in hopes that others find it useful https://t.co/JQ2hT19MtN. Please do reach out for questions!
Conference two out of three ✅ #NRSIG2024 is a wrap. On to the last poster!
Attending #GNC2024? Please drop by at poster 5,64 on Thur. 16:15-18:50 to see how memory capacity and memory beliefs influence how we choose to use our eyes and memory 👀 @INSneuro@AttentionLabUU
