@dieworkwear I appreciate the teachings on clothing as cultural language. Today, the upper class seemingly dresses counter culturally in hoodies and athleisure. What do you make of this? Are they truly the mark of affluence? Is a grey suit the new tradesman’s workwear? Or is it all branding?
@mehdirhasan@ComicDaveSmith How about we all acknowledge that the real problem is the system that gives us these shitty options for leaders and we work on changing that rather than arguing over who is the least worst voter?
@RedTexasHeat@GoodMornBadNews Shrink the grace period and delay gren card decisions is a way to functionally disallow all legal migration. What ever happened to follow the process? What good is process when the rules change mid way?
@willchamberlain Investigate those accused and pressure them to name others who were on the island. Minsky, Dublin, Mitchell, Dershowitz, Richardson (posthumous) Brunel, Copperfield etc. question those who flew w/ Epstein: Clinton, gates, Trump etc. this shouldn’t be a right/left thing
@RedTexasHeat@GoodMornBadNews If he was here illegally, why hasn’t he been deported? Could it be that he’s on lawful OPT status? Perhaps it’s not as cut and dried as YOU want it to be
@dccommonsense This would be wholly consistent w/ your sound observations on the creeping power of the executive. This doesn’t have to be some overt or obvious heavy-handed scheme. Just some well placed manipulations in key states can ensure his successor wins and he’ll likely die before 2034
@WtDasoiaf I’ve heard this was intentional to highlight the decline of House Targaryen post DOTD. Not defending it, just saying I heard it may have been a choice.
@Randomgascloud @TheMilkBarTV Maybe, but I’m skeptical. Hitler was quite clear on the need for Lebensraum in the east. That said, USSR assurances probably emboldened him. The irony of communism is that in WW1, Germany sent Lenin to St. Petersburg to incite rebellion and knock Russia out of WW1!
@Randomgascloud @TheMilkBarTV And to be fair, Germany had defeated France, bombed London, was winning in Africa while its ally Japan had defeated the UK in Singapore and the US navy was bombed at Pearl Harbor and lost/stalemated in the Coral Sea. So maybe it was as good a time as any?
@Randomgascloud @TheMilkBarTV Really appreciate the discussion. You are right, Germany was always worried about encirclement hence the Schlieffen plan in WW1. As to WW2 it’s possible USSR was gearing up. But Hitler’s racism, need for war materials and open ports was also a factor.
