I am Brian’s lawyer.

I sued the Department of Homeland Security over their unlawful actions, and after months of litigation, they released him to me at the Laredo border and I brought him back home to Austin.

We will continue to pursue compensation for damages.

BREAKING: This U.S. born citizen was deported to Mexico in April.

During a traffic stop, Brian Morales told immigration officers that he was born in Colorado, and offered to show his birth certificate. They refused to listen and deported him.

Today, he’s back in Texas.

[Rep. Becca Balint @RepBeccaB]

There are a lot of sick parts of our immigration system right now. One example is how *toddlers* are being forced to face immigration judges with absolutely no legal representation.

It’s cruel and inhumane.

[Team Talarico @TeamTalaricoHQ]

Texas was built by hope. By people who had no business believing — but believed anyway.

To every Texan who’s ever wondered if anyone in power is paying attention: We are taking our state back.

Because a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing.

Unaccompanied migrant children, some as young as 5 years old, are appearing in immigration court without attorneys. Now, Bloomberg Law reports that they are being pressured to accept deportation in exchange for $3,000.

According to the Acacia Center for Justice, immigration judges have reportedly presented these payments to children, sometimes describing them as one-time offers.

[Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch @AttorneyKateLG]

These children may have legitimate claims to asylum or other protections, yet they are being pressured to make life-altering decisions without legal representation.

Meanwhile, separate investigations have raised questions about whether promised departure payments are actually reaching migrants. I have yet to hear of anyone receiving these payments, and I’m highly skeptical that these children will receive them either.

Children deserve protection, not bribes.

Judge Sarah Davenport in New Mexico wants answers after ICE deported a man to Honduras on Oct. 5 in violation of an injunction.

Her issue: The last time ICE did this to her they vowed to implement safeguards. https://t.co/o8GN8SaDUT

[Nick Miroff @NickMiroff]

NEW: ICE is trying to deport a mother of 4 while her husband is at Fort Benning in Army basic training. When she went to pick up the family's military IDs, Navy personnel turned her over to ICE. She's been in the US since age six. Story with @nancyayoussef https://t.co/t3itHd6yBH

[Rep. Pramila Jayapal @RepJayapal]

I’m here in Austin, Texas, where ICE agents shot Wilber Garcés Pérez in the back and denied him medical care for 11 days.

This is all part of Trump and Stephen Miller’s plan. We must stop them and refuse to give their lawless militia a single more cent.

[Congressman Greg Casar @RepCasar]

Members of Congress came to Austin today to begin our investigation of the ICE shooting of Wilber Garcés-Pérez.

ICE has tried to avoid accountability, but Congress will use our powers to uncover the truth.

[Congressman Greg Casar @RepCasar]

LIVE: I'm leading a field hearing in Austin with @RepJayapal, @BennieGThompson, and other Democrats on ICE shootings across Texas, including the shooting of Wilber Garcés Pérez.

Texans deserve answers.

According to Axios, more than $9 billion in DHS contracts were awarded through processes that limited open competition during Kristi Noem’s tenure. That means billions in taxpayer dollars were awarded without fully open competitive bidding, a process designed to protect public funds, promote fair competition, and ensure accountability.

These corporations and their political connections deserve scrutiny as taxpayer dollars continue flowing into immigration enforcement.

[Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch @AttorneyKateLG]

Follow the money.

Billions of taxpayer dollars are flowing into private corporations through the Trump administration’s mass detention and deportation agenda.

And we need to pay attention to who is getting paid.

GEO Group expects to generate between $2.9 billion and $3.1 billion in annual revenue, while CoreCivic is positioned to collect billions more through detention operations and federal real estate transactions.

[Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch @AttorneyKateLG]

Salus Worldwide Solutions, a relatively new company with no prior experience as a prime federal contractor, received a contract worth up to $915 million to operate Project Homecoming, the administration’s so-called self-deportation initiative.

Despite serious questions about the bidding process and the program’s performance, DHS approved an additional $200 million extension.

The ICE officer who faces charges for road raging in Minneapolis (pulling a gun on a random motorist who blocked him from driving his unmarked SUV on the shoulder) broke into tears on the stand in a hearing about where he'll be tried, and said he was under a lot of stress, ok?

[Jazmine Ulloa @jazmineulloa]

Breaking: An ICE operation in Houston left a Mexican man struck and injured by an S.U.V., but a bulletin of the target shows a man who died in 2017, his daughter told us. https://t.co/37bjGryqGD

Her courage and resilience, and the courage of so many others in our communities, inspire me to keep fighting for dignity and justice because she represents the best of us and this country needs more people like her.

Thank you to @HABLAATX for this recognition. I am proud to stand alongside this community and will continue showing up as an ally and advocate every day.

[Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch @AttorneyKateLG]

I am deeply honored to receive the 2026 Habla Con Orgullo Ally Award from @HABLAATX

I shared the story of my client Araceli, whose extraordinary resilience helped her survive captivity and make her way to the United States in search of safety.

Stories like hers remind me why I do this work. (Her story begins a few seconds in.)

[ProPublica @propublica]

The government doesn’t track how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. So ProPublica did.

We’ve tallied more than 500 Americans held against their will in warrantless arrests and detentions during President Donald Trump’s second term: https://t.co/Dm1971jnIc

A new Democracy Forward report raises alarming concerns about ICE involvement in the 2026 midterm elections.

The investigation, based on more than 13,000 pages of government records, documents:

1. ICE expanding investigations into alleged noncitizen voting despite a lack of evidence of widespread voter fraud.

2. Federal officials leaving open the possibility of deploying armed immigration agents to polling locations.

[Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch @AttorneyKateLG]

Federal law prohibits certain deployments of armed federal personnel at polling places, and voter intimidation is flat out illegal, like many of the immigration enforcement actions we’ve witnessed over the last two years.

With just over three weeks until the midterms, Congress and the courts must address these concerns and ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their constitutional rights safely and without intimidation.
