@OfficialDMRC

Question papers for high-stakes entrance examinations could be generated at the last minute from a massive bank of questions instead of being prepared and stored in advance, as part of a technology-driven overhaul to prevent leaks, Nandan Nilekani, chairman of the high-powered task force on examination reforms, said on Tuesday. He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was keen to implement the panel’s recommendations.
Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026 in Delhi, the Infosys chairman questioned the need for a fixed question paper, arguing that its existence created an economic incentive for theft and sale.

CUET-UG 2027 could see some of its biggest changes yet — fewer subjects, shorter papers and a new grouping system aimed at ensuring that a student can finish the entire entrance test in a single day instead of making repeated trips to examination centres.
The ministry of education, University Grants Commission and National Testing Agency are working on a formula to shorten the overall examination cycle and simplify the experience for candidates, sources said.
At present, a candidate can take up to five subjects in CUET-UG, with each paper lasting 60 minutes. Under one proposal being examined, the duration of individual papers could be reduced so that even a student taking five subjects can complete all tests within about 180 to 200 minutes.
Another option under discussion is whether the maximum number of subjects should be reduced from five to four.

Question-paper setting, examination conduct, test centres and security would be handled by separate agencies under a restructuring being prioritised by the Nandan Nilekani-led task force on examination reforms. This “debundling” of responsibilities is central to a plan that also envisages examination centres in every district and a common calendar for major testing bodies.
Separating these functions could limit concentration of control over the entire examination process. For example, a role for Educational Testing Service (ETS) is envisaged in question-paper setting. ETS is the organisation behind GRE and TOEFL.
The committee is also planning a common calendar involving National Testing Agency (NTA), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs). Coordinated scheduling could help reduce clashes and allow better use of examination infrastructure throughout the year.

Conducted a surprise inspection of Bonta Park in the Northern Ridge near Delhi University, along with the Chief Secretary and @DcpNorthDelhi , to assess on-ground security, lighting and the elimination of dark spots along walkways.
Safety of women and children is a top priority. Directed authorities to ensure every public recreational space is well-lit, secure and regularly patrolled, with lighting kept fully operational.

A multinational coffee counter once sustained a 10-month political argument at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Electricity meters and an Rs 80 increase in the price of a prospectus helped trigger an indefinite agitation. JNU students were among the first on Delhi’s streets after the Nirbhaya gang rape. When eight women accused a professor of sexual harassment in 2018, more than 1,000 students and teachers marched through the capital. JNU protests have brought classes to a standstill, kept senior administrators confined to their offices and dominated national headlines for days. Against that record, the campus response to sexual-harassment allegations made by 11 students in May 2026 appears "markedly subdued."

India’s push for agreement at the #BRICS summit beginning September 12 faces divisions among its members over the #WestAsia conflict. Russian officials, speaking to their country’s media, have acknowledged difficult negotiations, while Brazilian reporting has raised doubts about a strong final declaration. Yet Chinese commentary has highlighted opportunities for India’s presidency, including closer trade ties. These contrasting accounts suggest that the challenge for New Delhi is to keep economic cooperation moving while finding language that countries with conflicting security interests can accept. @timesofindia 👇
