Longtime Twitter lurker, first time Twitter user. Christian, introvert, wife, mother of four. Not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but looking at options.
To everyone with a shit mom (and there are some real shit moms), I pray that you find your peace and overcome your pain. Sometimes we grow most by learning who not to be, but never let the failures of others ruin your appreciation of the good.
Happy Mother’s Day! For everyone with a great mom, cherish her. For everyone being a great mom, your efforts change the world in more ways than you can know.
Let’s try Make More Habitat May- find a section of your lawn that you can remove and plant with native flowers and bee-friendly plants that they enjoy for many months. IMO, a small oasis of such plants throughout communities is a better way to honor the intention of No Mow May
Saw a post about No Mow May and got a little frustrated. The intention is noble, the application is a bit misguided. I am not an “expert” in anything, but I know enough to understand that the phrase No Mow May is a but too cute for it’s own good.
Not mowing your lawn for a few weeks is not going to overcome the other weeks of spraying toxic chemicals and overall lack of bee habitat. It looks messy (which is inconsiderate towards neighbors) and a few dandelions in your yard are not the solution. (I don’t hate dandelions)
@giveashitnature No Mow May is more hype than help for most. Stop spraying your lawn with harmful chemicals and plant some native flowers. Going “hot mess” with your small yard for a month is not the “bee savior” move you think it is.
@BowTiedBroke@lechuckrising Correct response. As we explained when our kids turned 18- congrats, now you can be sent to big boy/girl jail, everything else is status quo. No adult privilege without commensurate responsibility
@jeremykauffman 2 yo hit sibling hard, gave time out, then required an apology to sibling. Became battle of wills-“no say sorry!” Put in a crib while I read a book in her room. 3 hrs later, she apologized when it became clear I wasn’t giving in and she wasn’t getting her freedom w/o it.
With all the reports of fraud coming out, can we please get tougher penalties for the “public servants” allowing/enabling this? Every tax dollar wasted is a dollar required to be paid. Since we can’t opt out of paying taxes, fraud with public money should be harshly punished.
@RizomaSchool Ok, I am guilty of going over the limit ($10-$15 over) sometimes. Not a flex, just I didn’t have time to hunt down a great deal on what I wanted to bring. Better than not even spending the limit or overpaying for junk, IMO.
@SonnieJohnson Absolutely this! My sister and I get along very well and my dad had some things planned, but his unexpected passing left a lot of personal business to resolve and it was a nightmare dealing with it. Can’t imagine how bad it would be in the situation you describe.
