It is with a heavy heart that we at Auburn Spectrum have received news about the plight of transgender youth in Texas. The South has a history of incredible diversity, and even more incredible attempts to cull that diversity.
She also spent the rest of her life advocating for better public perception of "transsexuals," speaking at universities and acting in documentaries about the community. She ultimately passed away in 1989 from lung and bladder cancer.

Though she wished for a quiet life, Christine found that she could only manage to earn a living by making public appearances. Thus began her career as an actress, nightclub singer, and recording artist.

Kuromiya survived lung cancer in the 70s and became friends with Buckminster Fuller afterward, touring the country with him for five years and collaborating with him on Fuller's last six books. In 2000, Kuromiya passed away from complications due to cancer

In the late 90s, he was involved in several court cases regarding various topics related to AIDS. In one case where he pushed to have freedom of speech protect sexually explicit information about AIDS on the internet, the Supreme Court struck down the Communications Decency Act.
