@CodyBalfour Along with those things comes the need to factor in background much more to better connect what is being learned. We talked a lot about the opportunity gap as well and how much of that can be based on racism and politics.

@CodyBalfour The main things that I pulled from it was the great need to have open conversations surrounding all components of culture and realize our own limitations, to see our biases and recognize why, to do a better job of making sure our classroom looks more like society than a bubble.

@CodyBalfour On a positive note, I went to a training this week about ways to honor culture in our classrooms even if it’s not represented. The presenter did such a great job of creating a safe and open space for discussion, and everyone there was extremely receptive.

It’s so worth meditating Psalm 37:4. Yes, he will give you the desires of your heart, but you must delight in him first. That changes and molds the heart to his will.

Will I always be sad I can’t stay home full-time with my kids? Always. My heart longs to be everything that they need.

Would we all miss out on really unique opportunities and friendships? Absolutely.

Things I have experienced in the last MONTH:
- flu (did get the flu shot 🙃, and it was still really bad)
- sinus infection because of the flu
- stomach virus

Truly, so many things are good. I’m trying to look at that. But this is the hardest month I’ve had in a longggg time.

It can be a rough week when you have recess duty, and you’re allergic to the outside world right now. I would love to love spring, but it hates me.

At least all my kids seem to like the book I picked for a book study the last few weeks of school. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
