Same for me! Sometimes shocking images and video clips are needed are needed for raising awareness in communities that are not touched by such events. #lesson12
Without the youtube videos posted I never would have had the chance to see exactly what the tear gas bomb dropped on the Egyptian protestors would have looked like, and the struggle they are dealing with #lesson12
Crazy how the cable news organization's coverage can be completely different from the local citizens' coverage, especially regarding the visual images and videos that are being shared. #lesson12
Youtube and social medias in general can be considered as really powerful platforms to raise awareness throughout a community and also across countries. #Lesson12#educ307
One girl took a stand to talk about the human trafficking that is happening around our campuses. Within seconds, everyone began sharing, warning others and stepping up that it has happened to them as well. Social media will be a powerful tool for children #lesson12
Really good point! I do believe that depending the age of the children, children will pay more attention to other details and remember the movie as an entertainment instead of understanding the underlying messages. #lesson11
Children around the world grow up watching Disney movies. Are there truly dangerous underlying messages in these films. Or are children too young to understand these messages. #lesson11
I think it depends the age and the personality of the young girl whose watching the movie, but of course I believe that the movie can promote in a certain way to overlook the abuse and overlook the violence. #lesson11
I totally agree with what have been said on the video, Disney earn so much power, especially on children, so they should become more responsible and include more diversity and multiculturalism in their movies, which will be more representative of today's world. #lesson11
Disney should really start thinking about changing the image of feminity that they project. Instead of caricaturing them, with big breast, tinny waist and long lashes, they should promote the fact that beauty has no specific size, and skin color. #lesson11
Crazy how my perspective of Disney has changed, especially regarding the message being Aladdin's story, which totally influence young girls that the greatest way to get what you want is by using your body to manipulate. #lesson11
My main argument is more related to the fact that professional women hockey players must work and have side jobs while playing at a professional level, for example in the CWHL, since the salary they receive as athletes is not enough.
@AudreyAnnRodri2 Before I bring in clear stats & facts on Numbers to Back my understanding & arguement of y men get payed more Iโd like to see your angle &reasoning to y u feel women should get equal pay when I donโt even know if theres a womenโs NHL!? All due respect! & ima stinger athlete too
As a current player of the Concordia Women Hockey Team, I totally support the fact that professional women hockey players should be paid as much as the same and should receive equal opportunities. This should also be the same for all the other sports. #lesson10
Me! I also believe, as a woman, that it is our responsibility to learn about what have been done in the past for our rights. There is still so much to do, but I think we also need to celebrate what have been done and keep fighting in the same direction. #lesson10#feminism
True! Feminism shouldn't be a subject that we avoid talking in schools, whether it is at an early age or at University. Whether you are young or old, being aware that feminism is not at all a "man hater movement" is a must, this image need to be changed. #lesson10
I'm so happy we are taught about woman rights and gender inequality in this class! Such an important topic that isn't talked/ acknowledged enough in school!!! #lesson10
The fact that women in the middle east are using blogs to share their stories and start a conversation around feminism goes to show that social media can be used to raise awareness about sensitive topics. #lesson10
I didn't know that Google was automatically scanning all the contents of every Gmail message! It is really scary to know all these stuff. #educ307#lesson9
Do you agree with the idea that students should pass exams about social media privacy ? Do you think that workshops and exams would help us to become responsible Internet users ? #lesson9
Privacy as a social value can compared to a relationship ; the closer the relationship, the more we share with the other person. Even if we really trust someone, we must be conscious of what must be said face-to-face and what can be shared on social medias. #lesson9
