"What the Met does not address is the fundamental question that the delay was caused entirely by the calculated decision to launch an Inquiry before the criminal proceedings.
The long-standing principle that criminal accountability should take precedence where lives have been lost was abandoned in the case of Grenfell, and we, who lost our kin, have paid the price for that decision ever since.

We are fighting against a system that is far more powerful than us — a system that has treated the next of kin of the deceased as obstacles to be managed into invisibility and irrelevance. We are the people most directly affected by Grenfell, yet we have been side-lined and systemically silenced.

After nearly nine years, we have been forced to confront a painful truth: this system is deeply broken. Decisions were made behind closed doors that directly damaged our right to justice. We have exposed incompetence, challenged dishonesty, uncovered contradictions and raised serious concerns time and time again, yet we continue to face a wall of institutional failure and resistance.

While some individuals and organisations reaped huge financial benefits from this terrible atrocity, our families were left with grief, trauma and permanent suffering. We lost our kin, and since then we have also lost our peace, our health and our trust in the very institutions that were supposed to bring us at least the remedy of justice.

This process has prolonged and deepened it. The delays, the disregard, the lack of accountability — all of it has retraumatised families who were already broken by unimaginable loss. They do not truly understand what this has done to us.

What we want the public to understand is this: if a tragedy like this happened to your family, this is how you would be treated behind closed doors. This is the reality we have lived with every day since Grenfell. A system that speaks about compassion publicly while causing unimaginable suffering privately at every turn, disrespect, disregard and contempt.

But despite all this, we will continue to speak out. We will continue to expose what happened, how decisions were made, and how justice was systemically delayed and denied. We owe that to our kin, and we have no choice but to continue fighting for them." Next of kin who lost a sibling in the fire

Just days after her murder on June 13, 2025, Isabella's father Tim Davies found himself sitting in a meeting, being told that her cocaine addict husband Paul Knight, who killed her after months of coercive controlling behaviour and just as she was about to leave him, still retained parental responsibility for their two young daughters. For Tim and Isobella’s mother Helena Sharrott, this signalled the start of a legal battle to protect their two grandchildren.

'Introduced as part of the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024, Jade’s Law is designed to automatically suspend the parental responsibility of anyone convicted of the murder or manslaughter of a partner with whom they have children. Instead of grieving families having to apply through the family courts to strip a killer of their parental rights, the suspension should take effect at sentencing, subject to swift judicial review in the child’s best interests.'

'Ed Duggan, who led the campaign for Jade’s Law, said the legislation has received Royal Assent but has yet to be enacted. “The entire idea of Jade’s Law was to remove this burden from families, as the automatic suspension of parental responsibility from the convicted person upon sentencing would shift the burden from the family over to the offender. Statistically, two families a week are added to the growing number of families who can have the protection which Jade’s Law provides. The Ministry of Justice gave me vague answers during my recent meeting. The primary reasons for the delay was, in their words, ‘due to ensuring the safety of the child and having to liaise and instruct various agencies on how this will be implemented.’”

Tim says: “Jade’s law is too late for us. We have to go back through the family courts process to remove Knight’s parental rights. But we want to see it enacted now, so it isn’t too late for other parents.”

I’m so tired of abusers and violent perps coming out with these excuses about their mental health, autism, ADHD, depression, and childhood trauma. We are being played, we are watching them DARVO.

Remember that mental health is only ever used AGAINST victims and only ever used FOR perps. Think about it.

This is why I speak so much on this topic. A victim will have their mental health used to frame them as vindictive, lying and attention seeking - a perp will use mental health to frame themselves as confused, struggling, in need of support and innocent.

This is why psychiatry has always been used against victims - and has always been used to protect perps. This has to end.

@canterburycc Hi, at the beach in Whitstable tonight and the public toilets closed very early by 7pm latest. Lots of people on the beach enjoying the weather tonight including a large party of teenagers, with no toilet facility all evening. Is this going to be rectified?
