As more people and businesses move to our state, we must protect our farmlands from overdevelopment. Yesterday, I signed a bill that provides farmers with a cost-effective option to keep their farms and ensure that our state's most valuable lands aren't lost forever.
Thank you to Senator Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC ) for his leadership on this historic legislation. 2800 more acres of SC barrier island coastline are now protected!

The Senate has just passed legislation that strengthens the Coastal Barrier Resources Act (CBRA), which has buffered coastal communities and bird habitats from storm surges and flooding for more than 40 years. #BirdsTellUs https://t.co/GbaENBK507
On behalf of 96 million birders in the US, thank you to the House for passing the Migratory Birds of the Americas Conservation Enhancements Act! It reauthorizes & strengthens a critical tool to protect migratory birds across our hemisphere. #BringBirdsBack https://t.co/V1gUagL1Wv

The SC General Assembly passed H3951, the Working Agricultural Lands Preservation Act. This bill will protect working agricultural lands through conservation easements. Many declining species of grassland birds rely on this habitat.
100 birds on a take permit out of a population of 14-15000 is like saying half the population of SC can be killed or forcibly moved to make way for development.

@SenTomDavisSC speaks to the importance of energy policy reform in SC to ensure we can meet our energy needs reliably and affordably. And guess what's reliable, clean, and affordable? Renewables. Audubon SC is working to support reforms like these.
South Carolina’s monopoly utilities say they have plans to “bring thousands of megawatts online in the coming years.”But we are missing out on economic opportunities RIGHT NOW. Their promises of new generation “in the coming years” are grossly inadequate. https://t.co/RyuHBxsoUj
Thank you @LindseyGrahamSC for supporting protections for coastal areas that are important for both birds and communities in South Carolina.

The Inflation Reduction Act has already led to historic investments in solar & wind, but more transmission is needed to unlock its full potential. In @thehill, Audubon's Marshall Johnson looks at why we must work together to build the grid birds need. https://t.co/Oq0896L7q4
As we mark the anniversary passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), here's a look back at why the IRA is such historic climate legislation that will benefit birds and people. #BirdsTellUs https://t.co/xYvUjV7knD
Restoring coastal habitats like marshes protects birds and people from climate change. This funding will help @Audubon_GL, @AudubonNC, and @AudubonSC co-create nature-based solutions with our local partners. https://t.co/YJtnWWAeZK #BirdsTellUs
