FINAL: Augusta Prep 6, Trinity Christian 1, GIAA Class AA quarterfinals. The Cavaliers scored all goals in the second half to advance to the semifinals. Nathan Shepherd kicked off the scoring with the first of his team-high three goals with 31:23 remaining.
Augusta Prep entered tonight as the No. 2 team in the state and will enter the GIAA Class AA state playoffs receiving a bye. Prep will next play again at home in the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 16.

With their 3-0 win tonight over Monsignor Donovan, the Augusta Prep boys soccer team recorded its first region championship since 2008. The Cavaliers also notched their 10th victory of the season tonight, improving to 10-3 overall.
In the girls double championship, Ayanna Khiani and Claire Rafoth defeated teammates Joanna Vender and Olivia Cuevas.
In the boys double, the teams of Ahaan Khiani and Perry Shirer, along with JR Weber and Eduardo Parro each placed in the final four.
Augusta Prep won three of 3 regional tennis titles today. Virginia Cassell defeated teammate Lily-Rose Toury to win the girls individual championship. Caleb Hogan defeated teammate Aidan Kho to win the boys individual championship.
FINAL: Augusta Prep 53, Southwest Georgia 42. Cavaliers trekked five hours today to Damascus, Ga., to pick up a win in the first round of the GIAA Class AA boys basketball state playoffs.
Prep advances to play No. 1 Heritage on Saturday with the time and location TBD.
The Augusta Prep girls defeated Monsignor Donovan, 45-24, tonight. The Lady Cavaliers advance to play No. 1 seed and host Edmund Burke Academy in the region semifinals at 3 p.m., Thursday.
FINAL: Augusta Prep 43, Briarwood 34, Senior Night. After losing all five starters off last year's team and starting the season 0-3, the Cavaliers head into next week's region tournament with the No. 1 seed and a 13-7 record under first-year Prep coach Kim Schlein.
Final: Westminster Christian 54, Augusta Prep 49. The defeat snaps the Cavs’ 8-game winning streak and ties the two teams in the loss column with one game left in the regular season.
Prep returns to action at 7:30 p.m., Friday, playing host to Briarwood in the region finale.
FINAL: Augusta Prep 46, Aquinas 39. Jayden Jackson with a pair of big buckets late as the Cavaliers extend their winning to streak to five, improving to 9-6 on the season.
Augusta Prep boys with a big road win tonight at Westminster Christian move into first place in the region. Come see Prep at home Saturday when the girls play host to Aquinas at 1 p.m., followed by the boys at 2:30. Go Cavs!
Final: Augusta Prep 50, Dominion Christian 32, boys varsity basketball. Cavs have won two in a row after defeating Gatewood by double digits on the road earlier in the week.
