I’m a doctor. But before that, I was a Werkzeugmechaniker. Tool and die maker. Apprenticed at 17 in a German shop that didn’t care how you felt. Only if your tolerances were right.
Punch cards. Tape drives. A master who checked my work in microns. He said nothing when it was right. Only when it was wrong.
I cut steel for a living before I ever wrote a single page of research. I know what it actually costs to make something real. So I’m done staying quiet.
We shipped our factories overseas. Then we let the training pipeline die too, the one that used to turn 18 year olds into machinists. Now we bring in workers on H1B visas to fill jobs our own trade schools stopped preparing people for. And we call that a labor shortage.
It’s not a shortage. It’s 30 years of choosing not to invest in our own people. Plain and simple.
I just finished a PhD on how industries rebuild themselves. Took me four years to write it down. Took me one apprenticeship to already know the answer. It starts on the shop floor. Not in an H1B queue.
Ohio Strong means something to me. It means apprenticeships that actually go somewhere. It means small shops that can’t find a welder because nobody funded the path to become one. It means towns getting hollowed out by decisions made by people who never set foot in them.
America First isn’t about walls for me. It’s about finally choosing to build the workforce we keep saying we’re short on, instead of importing our way around the problem.
I’ve got the hands to prove I mean every word.
That’s me, BD, tool and die maker turned doctor. Still cutting steel in my head, even now.
The Rust Belt is my home. The shop floor is my heaven. Engineering resilient, reusable dual use systems is my calling.
If you’re building too, connect with me. If you’re running a shop that needs a hand or a plan, let’s talk. If you’re tired of watching this region get written off, let’s fix that together.
Reindustrialize with me.
Let’s go. 🇺🇸
@APompliano Anthony, when the gov't runs out of money and you are holding bitcoin and gold (I'll skip land for the time being) they will implement a windfall profits tax. How do you get out of it?
@Jethroe111 George I'm afraid a large % of the plebs have been scared off permanently. Is your phone ringing off the hook with young people wanting to know how to get in? No, and even if they were you'd be too scared to teach them how to self custody. That is where we are...ain't bullish.
