@motherofmagmas These cracks are probably caused by expansion and subsequent high stresses. Maybe this 1995 JGR paper on zircons may help to find the exact explanation for this thin-section. . https://t.co/vK1My6UDQI

Great work @jamesgilgannon. Congratulations. So nice to see that my samples of my PhD from 15 years ago can still be used to generate such great results. #shearzones
like shear zones? check out my 1st PhD paper with @HerweghMarco and @AukeBarnhoorn: Dynamic recrystallisation can produce porosity in shear zones

Cambridge University Press has just made all 700 textbooks currently available in HTML format on Cambridge Core free to access until the end of May to assist readers during the Covid-19 outbreak. This also includes 58 textbooks in Language and Linguistics. https://t.co/TFhUaANkXE
Dear #funding bodies: if we need to spend weeks @home#COVID19 please extend deadlines for #grants & #fellowships. The ability to work with young children at home is low which will make difficult to meet deadlines by parents (mostly women) at early career stage. @AcademicChatter
Flying with Icelandair to #Reykjavik today. Wonderful views from the plane. I am pretty sure this is the volcano #Hekla underneath the wing! https://t.co/uBjUQyFRts
