Fun fact: Cuttlefish hypnotize their prey by flashing bands of color and light across their skin until they are close enough to attack. These waves are controlled by specialized pigment cells called chromatophores. 🐙🍪😵💫 check out OUR NEW MERCH AT https://t.co/hKEEsBZ2Ju
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
@Pontifex "They do not understand what they produce" is an important detail. They can appear to have a mind but in reality there's nothing there. That is not even a debatable detail about the technology. It's all math.
@falcothebard@Pontifex Incorrect. Objectively an AI understands nothing. Its a probability engine that uses a language model to answer based on the projected correct answer. See the "Chinese Room" thought experiment for more details.
