Today marks the end of the celebrations for the Club’s 50th Anniversary Rally - what a lovely time was had by all! ✨
Full rundowns will be up soon - just as soon as everybody’s caught their breath! 😅
Does anyone remember the Austin A45? 🤔
Slightly post-“Counties era”, this car combined the A55 Cambridge body, with the A40 B-series Cambridge engine ⚙️
The advert in the photo was found by one of our members, and shared originally a few years ago in our club magazine! 📖
Taken in Bristol, you can see this A40 Somerset Coupé with its hood in De Ville position! 🚙
With this warm weather continuing, wouldn’t it be lovely for all of our cars to enjoy this feature? ☀️
Fancy renting a radio? 📻
While an unusual sight nowadays, this was a coveted service back in the days when radios weren’t so common! And what better vehicle to move them than a trusty Austin 8 van? 🤩
What’s the most unusual use you’ve seen for one of our vehicles? 🤔
An appreciation post for the Early Austin 7 and Late Austin 7!
But these aren’t Counties-era cars, I hear you cry! 📣
Whilst true, without these early trusty models, and their ancestors, there’d have been no Austin Motor Company! 😮
They don’t look bad for being nearly 100! 😉
The Austin A70 Hereford was available in a range of 16 colours across the time of its production! 🌈
From Cheviot Fawn to Solway Blue, Canterbury Grey to Fern Green, there was plenty of choice for potential buyers 🚙
What colour would you choose? 🤔
Did you know an Austin 16 would have only cost £570-685? 😮
But with the average weekly wage for a man at the time being £6-7, it could take up to 2 years to save for one! 🕰️
That didn’t halt their popularity, with an average of 200 being produced and sold each week! 💰
If you had the resources, how many classic cars would you have? Three? Four? How about… 240?? 😮
These two Atlantics were found in a HUGE collection in the Netherlands - and they weren’t in too bad condition! The new owners really did find a needle in a haystack! ✨
This year’s Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show was a success! 🥳
Special thanks have to go to the car owners for the use of their vehicles: Rowlie Moores, Alastair While, and Steve Trimble 🚙
And finally, thank you to Chris and Joy Cole for organising the stand!
Did you know our magazine offers tips based on real experiences of our members? 🤔
Take a look at this head gasket for one of our member’s Atlantic saloon! 🤩

Will you be joining us at this year’s @practicalclassicsofficial Restoration Show from 21-23 March this year? 🚙
As usual, the club will be running a stand at the show - it would be great to see our members there! 🤩
In our Jan/Feb 2023 magazine, we featured this time leap of some members’ cars 🕰️
First pictured in 1992 for Practical Classics, the so-called “Counties Set” reunited and recreated this picture in 2023 🤩
Can you recognise the cars in the picture? Or even the proud owners? 😃
The A70 Hampshire - the big brother of the A40 Devon 🚙
Its name was chosen during the post-war period when Austin believed the counties names would invoke a sense of pride in the country ❤️
Take a look at some of our members’ Hampshires which they are kind enough to share✨
