Today @calbaptist celebrates its “Big West era.” We remember the 69 athletes it left behind.

While President Ellis and @DrMicahParker take a victory lap, their leadership faces a Title IX lawsuit, a fraud case, and now a suit from the coach who built their biggest program.

KCBUW representative Kristian Vazquez sat down with House and Senate staff including House Judiciary Committee staff this week and made one thing crystal clear: sex based gender quotas are destroying college athletics and violating the very spirit of Title IX.

Title IX was built to expand opportunities. Not eliminate them.

When Coach @mark_munoz joined CBU wrestling in 2024, the wrestling world took notice.

Known for his success on the mat, in the cage, and as founder of Reign Wrestling Academy, he brought instant credibility and recruits. His impact helped land a #17 nationally ranked recruiting class for 2027.

But Coach Munoz brought more than wins. He brought mentorship, faith, and a heart for developing young men right here in the Inland Empire.

When CBU discontinued the program, they didn't just cut a team. They cut off an entire community's access to a world class coach and leader in their

California's Leonard Law protects students at private universities from being punished for protected speech.

The new lawsuit alleges CBU threatened wrestlers with discipline for wearing "Keep CBU Wrestling" apparel.

📞 Just got off the horn with Coach Leeth, who has met every benchmark and deadline over the past few years to help bring Division I wrestling to Texas.

He confirmed the club and wrestling facility were built independently, meaning the club teams can still continue despite the university’s decisions.

It’s a small (donor funded) consolation.

According to Coach Leeth, his circle had committed to covering the first FIVE YEARS of wrestling expenses- including coaching salaries- once the move to Division I officially happened. He even dipped into his own assets to help accelerate this process.

Leeth said communication from administration became virtually nonexistent over the past several months, with no clear direction on whether the university still intended to move forward with D1 wrestling.

Rather than leave athletes stuck in limbo, Coach Leeth is now focused on helping his wrestlers find new homes and opportunities elsewhere, stressing the importance of transparency.

A brutal outcome for the athletes, coaches, donors and supporters who invested years into building what could have been a major step forward for d1 wrestling in Texas.

CBU Wrestling was not taking a disproportionate piece of the athletics pie. Not even close.

Public Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act numbers show wrestling made up roughly 7.2% of CBU athletes, but only 3.4% of athletics expenses.

That means the program was operating below its proportional share.

CBU’s own court filing asked for a $1.25M bond if wrestling were reinstated, while acknowledging plaintiffs had raised or pledged over $1.3M for the program.

@DrMicahParker and CBU did not cut a bloated program.

They cut a sustainable program that was still producing, and largely funding itself through tuition, room and board, and fundraising.
