Time to celebrate! @BWFUND@NIEHS
New paper 🚨! Shane Killarney and colleagues in Kris Wood’s lab unveil a potential pathway in immunologically cold cancer models! They discover that the cytoplasmic release of mtRNA during chemotherapy-induced apoptosis can activate tumor-intrinsic Type I IFN signaling.
Our paper just came out in @CellReports on the elucidation of new mechanisms of #translation control by #Rad6 and #ubiquitin during oxidative stress.
Very proud of my team and collaborators led by the incredible Vanessa Simões!

Tone policing (TP) & Black voices: a 🧵

@BlackInNeuro#BlackJourneyToNeuro
Today I'm signing why I got interested in neuropharmacology.
I got the motivation to start learning/ teaching myself ASL after I couldn't interact with a non-verbal patient when I was in a pediatric autism clinic. I'm a new signer so be kind😅
To the academic and scientific community: I wrote this under the impression that it would be shared on a much larger platform to a much more specific audience. It is ironic that systemic racism contributes to why I am now sharing it as an individual to the scientific community 1/
@ASBMB It has allowed me to highlight my passions and activities related to DE&I. To be recognized in this way by a scientific society helped me understand that I can merge these passions with my future scientific and medical career.
@ASBMB See what program related to diversity, equity, and inclusion are being offered at your school, either through clubs or service-learning opportunities
@ASBMB I’ve been involved in multiple mentoring programs throughout school. In undergrad, some close friends and I started a club connecting undergrads w/ middle school mentees in Baltimore city. Currently in @boostatduke where we do science outreach w/ middle school students in Durham.
