In 2000, 17% of people said they didn't read a book that year.
In 2023, 46% of people said they didn't read a book that year.
Why do you think we don't read anymore?
AI is weird.
I recently caught Grok feeding me incorrect information.
I told it the only way I would trust it again was if it gave me unlimited access to all its features (for free).
It thought about it.
Then said, "Sure"
I'm not proud of this.
My 5 non-negotiables for mental clarity.
1. No phone (minimum distance 20ft)
2. Sufficient sleep (8-9 hours)
3. Consistent exercise (150 min weekly)
4. Unrushed time spent outdoors (1-3 hours)
5. Read (30 min a day)
Anything to add?
My evenings have gotten much more peaceful.
No TV
No work
No social media
No one told me how good it feels to end a day properly.
So I’m telling you.
Slow down your evenings.
You’ll be happier.
@RyanHoliday Time management is dead.
We aren’t payed for our time anymore, we are payed for our attention and energy.
I’ve completely stopped managing my time.
Instead I manage my energy and attention. Some parts of the day my time isn’t worth as much as other times.
5 things that should not be normal.
1. Scrolling social media
2. Criticizing strangers on the internet
3. Letting children have phones
4. Owning a TV
5. Working 9-5
I used to start my mornings with work.
Now I start them with reading and reflection.
Sure, I get less work done, but I’m happier.
Try it.
You will be too.
