Very sad news. James inspired so many students to love early modern history. He was endlessly generous with his time and knowledge, helping students, colleagues and many beyond @UoP_History. His kindness will be much missed but never forgotten

It is with sadness that we announce the death of our former colleague, Dr James Thomas. James taught at the university for over 50 yrs, before retiring 3 yrs ago. He will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him. Our deepest condolences to his wife Sheila, family & friends.
