OK, y'all, I did a thing! I wrote a novella! It's a cozy, teen/YA coming of age tale of a guy who ends up playing way too many roles in a performance of The Nutcracker to try to pad his resume and get the girl. ๐
Unfortunately, now I have to market it. ๐๐ ๐ญ
Anyways, if this sounds like your cup of tea (or dare I say, coffee!), eBook preorders are available now! Paperback and eBook releasing Feb 10!

This is a good point! I use the word "clean" a lot without intending to put anybody off to encapsulate when a book has little to no violence, sexual content, and foul language, but you're right: it can definitely come across as harsh to the open door community. I don't personally read open door (or at least, not very often), but in the future, I'm going to try to be more specific with terms like closed door, fade-to-black, etc. This is really good data. Thank you for sharing! โค๏ธ
@CamilleASinger I'm curious: do you think the same system for movies would work for books? ๐ค I'm wondering if maybe I could try to get a bunch of authors together and try to come up with something at least. It may not stick, but it's at least a start.
June has been a rough month so far. Between illnesses, migraines, and urgent care visits, our family has been dealing with pure insanity. ๐
But the good news about being sick? I can still read! ๐
Now, yโall โ Iโm super excited to tell you that this INCREDIBLE book releases TOMORROW, June 16th! Iโm giving you a sneak peek here, but make sure to check out @ZB_Steele and preorder it for yourself!
Iโm honored to have been both a beta reader and an ARC reader for "Rising Gale", the sequel to his indie hit "Whispers of the Storm" and the second book in the "Song of the Damned" series. Iโll be honest โ I loved the first book so much that I wondered if Book 2 could keep the same pace, emotional depth, characters, and world-building.
YโALL.
I finished this last night and my jaw is still on the floor. "Rising Gale" was a seamless continuation that gave me everything I wanted from Book 2 and then some! Itโs a much darker tale for our protagonist, and the storm clouds are definitely gathering for both Redlin and the Prisoner. I pride myself on guessing plot twists, but this book got me โ and got me GOOD. Several major twists at the end have left me absolutely reeling and wishing Book 3 was already out!
Beyond the insane plot, the character development, world-building, and exposition are all top-notch. I tend to be picky with my praise, but I genuinely have no complaints with this oneโฆ which is wild considering itโs 633 pages on ebook. ๐ณ
For the parents out there: this is solidly an adult book. Thereโs quite a lot of R-rated cursing, gory violence, and two open-door scenes (though not extremely detailed). There are also several dark themes including torture, execution, child sacrifice, and war. I highly recommend it for adults. If youโre a kiddo or teen, Iโd suggest waiting a bit longer. ๐
Okay, yโall โ Iโm giving you homework this time!
Go get this series, read it, and then DM me when you finish Book 2. Iโm going CRAZY not being able to talk about THE THING THAT HAPPENS. ๐
And let me know in the comments โ whoโs your favorite character? Iโm personally a Juck fangirl myself! ๐

Seriously, I'm going crazy not being able to talk about ALL THE THINGS! It was incredible! I don't know if you're a Marvel guy or not, but this book also reminded me a lot of "Infinity War" (which is my favorite of the Marvel movies). My husband is also super stoked to read this series, but he's waiting for the audiobooks.
