@citizentvkenya Well done @Devkigroup for choosing to set this up in an ASAL highly marginalized area, cheers to many more manufactiring plants...in Kenya...gone are the days we exported raw unfinished goods to the west! More importantly my ask to President @WilliamsRuto to support real execution
Narendra Raval the chairman of Devki Group has opened up about the rivalry that has been surrounding the opening of Ngaaie Cement factory.
He claims there has been a conflict of interest as some leaders wanted him to open it in Mwingi, 15km away from where the resources are at- in Ngaaie.
This is exactly what was happening Kilungu as a section of leaders were pushing to have the TVET established at the premises of Kilungu Boys High School, leaving the kids, teachers and stakeholders of the Kilungu Senior school in darkness.
This is greed, selfishness and such behavior needs to be called out.
Yesterday, Narendra, the CEO of Devki Group, claimed that he had planned to build his limestone mining plant in Mwingi, only for local leaders to direct him to set up his factory 15 km away from the mineral site.
One of Ukambani’s biggest problems is outdated leadership that would rather frustrate major investments than allow development to happen without their direct involvement. We deserve better!

He noted that under President Ruto's leadership and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, Kenya is shifting from exporting raw materials and jobs to becoming a manufacturer and exporter, positioning itself as the industrial powerhouse of Eastern and Central Africa.

Narendra Raval: Devki group does not work with any wrong motive. Because of the pressure from the leaders we were to put this plant in Mwingi and not Ngaaie. Materials are here yet they wanted me to put it 15km away

Devki Group chairman Narendra Raval will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for a KSh50 billion clinker and cement plant in Ngaaie, Kitui County, as the industrial group expands its manufacturing operations near local limestone deposits.
The ceremony for the National Cement Company project is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Mwingi North, with President William Ruto expected to attend.
Construction of the plant had already begun by late September and is expected to start operations in mid-2027.
The factory will be Kitui County’s first cement plant, adding production capacity in a region with valuable deposits of limestone, a key raw material in cement manufacturing.
Today, I had the privilege of accompanying the President, H.E. Dr. @WilliamsRuto, to Ngaaie in Mwingi North Constituency, Kitui County, where he broke ground for the KSh 70 billion Devki Group cement and clinker manufacturing plant, marking a significant milestone in Kenya’s industrialisation journey.
This landmark investment represents a major vote of confidence in Kenya’s economic potential and the Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for private sector-led growth.
Beyond its immense contribution to the manufacturing sector, the project will create employment opportunities, stimulate local businesses, strengthen infrastructure development and open new economic frontiers for the people of Kitui County and the wider Eastern region.
The establishment of this plant also underscores the importance of value addition in unlocking the full potential of our natural resources.
By strengthening local manufacturing capacity, Kenya is positioning itself to reduce reliance on imported construction materials, enhance industrial competitiveness and retain more economic value within our borders.
