@forestvanslyke@theddiebucksucc I’ve seen you call every person who disagrees with you ableist. I’m more than aware disability doesn’t stop you being ableist. You say ableist things fairly often.
@autisticme_fran @forestvanslyke I’m also told that non-NHS diagnosed people (private diagnosis) are often even refused scripts/have scripts rejected. WTH?!
@Richard_Autism @ekverstania If ‘PDA isn’t autism’ then it shouldn’t be considered ‘low functioning autism’ - plus, like I said, non-speakers or people who struggle with social situations more are actively excluded by the PDA label, even if they have debilitating avoidance.
@Richard_Autism @ekverstania That kind of repeats my point though. PDA was seperate from autism, now it’s a ‘subtype’. Tania’s proposal of identifying ‘apraxic autism’ as a cluster is frightening, it goes back to the hey day of functioning labels (which I’ve noticed you used…)
@josierones This is so ableist and problematic. I’ve complained to 4 and been shut down, now the complaint is with Ofcom. You have no right to use that word.
@Channel4@DailyMirror Additionally; yes there is an overlap between ASD/ADHD/FASD/CP and intellectual disability BUT that does not mean aforementioned disabilities in absence of ID can 'reclaim' the r-slur when it was not used in a legal sese against them.
Since @Channel4 has blatantly disregarded my concerns and defended their decision (on the onus 'Rosie is the absolute authority on whether using this word is okay'), and now that another major British outlet, @DailyMirror, has piled in - I'll summarise this for the bird app.
@Channel4@DailyMirror the r-slur. IQ below 70. This means it is an intellectual disability. It is not Autism, cerebral palsy, ADHD, FASD, dyspraxia... it means intellectual disability.
Which means the people systemically impacted by the r-slur are people with intellectual disabilities.
And by
@Channel4@DailyMirror It's literally not just a quirky title. It's not fun, it's not just a word people were called to be bullied, it's a word that is used to completely strip people of their rights. Using it so flippantly is problematic - and I wish @josierones would see that.
@Channel4@DailyMirror Now, onto the Mirror - and the disgusting tactics they are using to discredit disabled advocates. Stating that disability advocates are going 'full Mary Whitehouse'. Mary Whitehouse was known for her extreme Catholic and conservative views, being wildly homophobic.
