Note to educators in mainstream
When working with Autistic children, your relationship with them is EVERYTHING.
Not social skills training, not now and next boards, not laminated sheets.
Your relationship, letting them know they are 'safe' in your class, can be the difference
@naomicfisher An autistic family friend was badly bullied in Yr 7. He now has panic attacks going into lessons where he was bullied. Just recently he's having such bad panic attacks, that he's run off within school to hide. For this, he is being given internal truancy demerits.
@MetaQuestHelp That's truly rubbish. I have the parent account so I buy the games but i don't actually play . Now I've spent money on a game that's useless and it doesn't even qualify for a refund. I can't buy it again and gift it to my son even because I have the base game too. Total rip off.
@MetaQuestHelp This doesn't help. In his acc it shows that he has requested permission. In my parent acc it shows that I have given permission but when he tries to play on the headset it says he needs permission.
I've done some googling. Is the problem that add ons aren't shareable?
@MetaQuestHelp I have just purchased five nights at Freddies dlc. My son cannot play it from his account. It says he must request permission but when he goes to do that it says already requested. In my parent account there is no request there. Please advise.
@naomicfisher Cont'd.
Told they didn't care about my family, only about the school. Later that year, i took my partner to the oncologist for their scan results (stage 4 incurable). School had to cover 1 hr of teaching time. I had to write to the governors & was docked half a day pay.
@naomicfisher Believe me when I say some schools treat their staff exactly the same. I was going through a really hard time and was late on an inset day which was to be used for classroom prep. I apologised and explained that I would stay late to make up the time. I was still yelled at and
And people wonder why people are still worried about revealing mental health difficulties. It seems you shouldn't be allowed to earn a lot of money. I wonder what the cap should be?! 🤔
@Peston Sad to say he brought it upon himself. Guilt is a terrible thing. Obviously it's sad that someone is ill but his choices led to this. If the BBC are paying someone with mental health issues £500k a year then the BBC need investigating.
Spending time in nature is a must for me, every single day. It helps me regulate. I think I'll post a photo each day this week.
#AskingAutistics what do you do to regulate?

I've just completed all the documentation for my child's EHCP needs assessment. I made a parental request. I've produced over 60 pages.
It's taken up so much time. Who would anyone do this if their child didn't genuinely need it?

Thread 🧵A reflection on primary schools.
I'm a different person. I have energy and I get stuff done, not just the basics. I do things I enjoy, every single day. I read for hours sometimes. I have time to rest. I feel good at my job and I have time for my family.
@_MissingTheMark Yep that's us. My husband has terminal lung cancer and is very ill, my father in laws in hospital a 45 min drive away after an accident and my child is in total shut down. I also have a job. How are we supposed to live like this?
