I’ve been dogpiled more than a few times on here for having an “unpopular” take on whatever autistic community issue is being called attention to on a particular day. It was an awful experience, and I hope we can build a community in which we are no longer scared of each other.

She gets constantly invalidated and "discredited" by the entire medical field, including within the movement. That must be acknowledged.

The movement claims to be about nonverbal rights and presuming competence, except when an NV woman says something you don't like.

@mushroomexists @antivoraction Being against disposability culture and cancellation is anything but an exclusively white thing. It is an abolitionist thing, which I notice you call yourself in your bio. The idea that no one is disposable is something we need to live by in movement.

Our community already has a problem with exclusion of the nonverbal and she is an incredibly powerful advocate on that front who i'm sure could be gently guided to understand.

@nebula_kirby But it’s a gradual process, an incremental one. Progress is often like that. Now I’m an abolitionist, so I will admit that in a lot of cases the solution *is* to burn it all down. But this is not one of those cases.

@nebula_kirby But those fields can and are being made better. The eugenicists can be slowly but surely replaced with Autistic researchers and Autistic-trained accountable allies, until the fields become completely transformed and start doing research that actually benefits us.
