Our Autism Journey began when Junior was just 8 months old. I noticed a sudden change in his behavior—he ceased responding to his name, made minimal eye contact, and didn't engage when breastfeeding. His silence and lack of mimicking sounds alarmed me which instantly lead to
paid off. Simultaneously, my research led me to a remarkable figure - a supermom with an autistic son of her own, who became my guiding angel. She introduced me to GAADD which opened up a community of parents with diverse experiences, offering valuable insights and support on
THREAD: 1/11 Over the past year, I’ve researched how children repatriated from detention camps in northeast Syria for ISIS family members are doing now in their home countries.
The teachers for the autistic children are employed by @AutismGambia who I am also working with. All the kids get to pant and learn about farming on the side with their individual schedules. Ps. I dont show faces of children in any of my posts.
I even got quality time with my fellow autists. They taught me how to plant moringa. And as we are both sensory seekers on the spectrum none of us wore gloves. We liked the feel of sand and water mixture.
Spending my day at the Starfish Foundation Gambia. A school which also has resources and classes for Autistic children. Very happy to witness their work/advocacy and determination.
