An autistic researcher at the University of Manchester is inviting #ActuallyAutistic adults for research into the tendency to get stuck or frozen, sometimes called #AutisticInertia. Get in touch to learn more https://t.co/XXvqTgCtho
#AskingAutistics have you seen the main programme schedule for #Autscape 2025?

Come and join us in autistic space for three days and experience what it is like when being #ActuallyAutistic is the norm!
Autscape is non-profit. Organisers are unpaid.
I am looking for people who would like to play a game about autistic inertia for my research. Sessions will take place in Manchester and take about 1.5 hours. You will receive a small reimbursement for your time. Email [email protected] for information.
@dudeimreading @AutismSpectAust Have you met autistic people who have different preferences to yourself? We are big Christmas fans in my all-autistic household. Stimmy lights, yummy food, and the perfect predictability of it all. Christmas was one of my children's first passionate interest.
@SueReviews@SMRCResearch You were literally the only thing that used to make Twitter worth it, even when it was better than now. So I’ll join you somewhere in the beyond… if I can work out how.
@Mr_Fish_Art @FWAgvocate I’m the UK too. We do have pharmacists, they are just underestimated as health care providers with expertise. We also have an emergency nurse line - 111. It’s just different terminology. If your son is a child, CAMHS also have an emergency number. If you’re worried, don’t wait.
@autismtalknd Inertia. I’d love to be one of these who just needs a nice physical and social environment and then all their problems evaporate. Not so. Even in the most adapted environment possible I can’t even get a drink reliably.
@MxOolong I think that's all I had to comment on. Drawing a few of those things together, I would say that monotropic interest is captured well, but monotropic activity is not captured as well.
@autismtalknd Answer the question ‘how should parents talk to their children about their ethnicity’ and do that. No special talk or handouts. No stigma. Just everyday differences between people.
@SueReviews@MxOolong@scrappapertiger I also may have uses if it's sufficiently sorted inside of 3 months. I'd like to explore to what extent monotropism contributes to inertia, along with quite a few other possible factors.
@SueReviews Also @MxOolong, @scrappapertiger and others. Is there a preprint of the article? If not, can one of you email me a draft? I promise not to leak it. It's just that I have a lot of questions that are likely better answered by reading it than by bombarding you with them.
@MxOolong I'd be interested in whether your analysis leads to collapsing a few of the questions because it's quite long and repetitive at the moment. If shorter, I would have uses for it.
I'm also interested in the Discord. Send me an invite?
