Movie autism: everyone accepts me, although I'm very unkind. Even when people tell me I hurt them, I don't care.
Me: does everything to please other people, gets into autistic burnout because of it. Nobody notices my autism, but I still get excluded.
There's two things that are special about the words Autism Spectrum Disorder in The Netherlands.
Firstly, it's written as one word: autismespectrumstoornis.
Secondly, the abbreviation is ASS.🤭🍑
@AnythingMaureen @fibonacci_rocks I realize now it's not really masking (hiding your autistic traits) that I'm describing. It's more assimilation: pretending to be someone else to fit in. What's probably different from neurotypical people was that I was consciously doing it and thinking about it at 4 years old.
