Earlier this year, AutoWeed set our sights on Harrisia cactus in rangeland pastures at Warakirri's Willaroo Farm, saving 50% on time & herbicide compared to hand spray, as part of @envirogov & @AusLandcare's Smart Farm Small Grant program in partnership with @jcu & @NorthWestLLS.
๐จNew dataset alert๐จ
The DeepWeeds dataset (originally published in 2019 by Alex Olsen from @Auto_Weed) is now available on Weed-AI.
17492 images with 8 different invasive weed species annotated at the classification level.

POSTPONED - AutoWeed Field Day
Due to the fantastic rain in the area and the rain still to come, the decision was made to POSTPONE the field day until it dries up a bit. @Auto_Weed
On Wednesday 24 March at Willaroo Farm, Warakirri have open their gates so the @Auto_Weed team can give you a demo on the tech and improvements. https://t.co/4LKr7hT4XB
Here's the team setting up our new office space in Townsville QLD. Exciting times ahead as we continue to develop and deliver our technology to Aussie farmers.
Excited to deliver new AutoWeed systems to sugarcane farmers in the Lower Burdekin as part of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation's Reef Trust Partnership Innovation Program. @GBRFoundation @envirogov
JCU will oversee the development of a smart weed spraying robot that could reduce herbicide usage on sugarcane farms in #GreatBarrierReef catchment areas by at least 80 per cent.

.@jcu students have developed a weed-spraying robot that uses artificial intelligence, to reduce herbicide usage on cane farms. https://t.co/p86fwUfcNB @georgiacosti#7NEWSa
@jakob_sand@TeeJetOz Our detection systems could be adapted for any control measure. But we're focused on reducing herbicide usage with efficient site-specific spraying. Depending on weed density, we've seen up to 90% reduction in chemical; which has significant economic and environmental benefit.
@rick_rundell A picture perfect example of the need for green-on-green spraying @rick_rundell! The returns of our system are ideal at this level of weed density.
@rossthecqagro@WeedSmartAU We're currently seeking investment to help deliver the product to consumers. We can roughly say that the entire system will be available for around $5k per metre (incl. detection units, nozzles, retro-fit and status monitor).
We haven't trialed on GRT yet but it's on our list!
Is green on green technology closer than we think? In this week's podcast, we hear from @Auto_Weed's Alex Olsen about the technology & we also chat with our Southern Extension Agro Greg Condon (@grassrootsag) about a recent machine learning workshop: https://t.co/zvdNQfanvy
Day 2 of GRDC workshop in Wagga on machine learning for weed recognition. Local & international speakers highlighted the potential for the tech to go beyond green on brown to green on green.
Site specific weed control will reduce costs, minimise residues & more. @WeedControlLab
@JJfarmequipment @PaulMacAHRI_PUL Absolutely. The units can be scaled up to fit broadacre booms of size 12m, 24m and 36m. We want complete compatibility with existing machinery, so ISOBUS is key
@GeezaColeman Thanks Guy! That is indeed a Nano. The Google Coral suite and new Raspberry Pi 4 are other embedded edge devices we considered.
Very impressed with your work on Ryegrass in Wheat!
