Metaverse is the word everyone is using to describe what social media look like in virtual reality versus desktop / mobile, now that the VR technology is advanced enough to be compelling.
Whoever owns the Hardware owns the Metaverse. It's the home-screen of the new UI / UX in VR, which is owned by the headset manufacturer not a 3d party software dev. (1/3)
Also metaverse might be a moot point. People go to wherever the best game is, not one centralized "decentralized" hub. It's unlikely the developers of the best MMO will also make the best FPS, card games, battle royale & sports games, right? (2/3)
Otherwise we have 100 metaverses -- and then whats the point if you have to switch between them anyway? Isn't that the same as just quitting game #1 and launching game #2? Unless we just want to call every game a metaverse from now on. (3/3)
As long as you can globally msg/chat ur friends across the platform, and coordinate with them what to play -- that's the glue between all these fragmented games which will be made. The metaverse isn't a place, its the connective tissue, that goes unseen
