@mme_wagstaff Yes! I'm so much more organized, and it is also easier to pivot if we go virtual, if a student is out, or if I am out. With a few tweaks (most of the time, not always), I can often make a slideshow self-guided and post it to Google Classroom.
@SarahBreckley I got an MA in Spanish & Pedagogy. Most of the classes were in Spanish lit w/a few language teaching classes in English. The best thing was that it came with an assistantship so I cotaught 100 level undergrad Spanish classes & the school paid my tuition & gave me a stipend.
@PRHSspanish @PlanetWordDC @Marishawkins Yay! @glendadehoyos told me it was fabulous. Looking forward to getting over there once my newborn is a little bigger!
A low-prep alternative: have students generate a list of words for their classmates to define. Easy and meaningful way to spend an extra few minutes at the end of class.
How do you communicate your point when you don't know a word Spanish? 8th grade @LangleyLeopards practiced selecting an unfamiliar word and using their prior knowledge to define it. Their answers were so clever and creative! #langchat
@SamaraSpielberg Also, I'm not allowed to do food this year, but this is a super-easy and low-prep recipe for Morir Soñando that my 8th graders enjoyed making pre-Covid: https://t.co/by88jlIwQv
@AwesomeSra@PearDeck@LangleyLeopards Thanks! The moving around portion lasted about 5 minutes or so, and then we debriefed as a class for another few minutes after they returned to their seats. The Ss were really good about giving each other personal space. Best of luck with your activity!
8th grade Spanish students reviewed past vocabulary with a "Getting to Know You" bingo activity, and using @PearDeck provided an awesome green alternative to the traditional paper version. @LangleyLeopards#langchat
