While watching Rita Pierson's TED talk, I learned the importance of relationship building with students, communicating/ correcting with positive language, and putting your all into the future of all of your children. #GCCEDU
In a lesson focused on Native American students I learned that in the 19th century, boarding schools were instituted by Christians and the government and were made to eliminate American Indian's traditional culture, so they can assimilate into mainstream culture. #GCCEDU
In a recent lesson regarding homelessness, I have learned that California has the largest amount of homeless students in their public school. I found this very surprising! #GCCEDU
In a recent lesson involving Arab students in America, I have learned that because of their culture, they are often uncomfortable with working with the opposite sex. Therefore, it may be necessary to separate them from the opposite sex in the classroom. #GCCEDU
In a recent lesson regarding Asian students, I learned a lot about their culture. My favorite tip from the lesson however, "Reverse the model minority stereotype and treat students as divinely created, image-bearing individuals."
