Overwritten and gratuitous. Like if you've never read any philosophy at all, I'm sure it a game changer, but honestly The fountainhead, 6 pillars of self esteem, the war of art, anything by jung, are all individually better than this. Also what in the hell where the audio guys smoking when they produced the audiobook.
Likely THE flaw in almost all rw thinkers. They focus on being accepted by the system in which they make their career critiquing, meanwhile a alternative breakaway culture forms around them and they don’t have the foresight or openness to engage with it, as that energy is spent on placating the system that is hellbent against them. Cultural Stockholm syndrome
I don’t quite know why, excepting perhaps pure nostalgia, but this graphic style from late 80s-90s, particular to arts and discussion programmes, always delivers me to a state of sombre pining, as if after a brief moment now long forgotten. Was there really such a time, and such a place?
This particular example is from the opening credits of BBC’s Omnibus circa around that time.

What did they mean by this?
T3 changed my whole life and I'm highkey kind of pissed off that I had to arrive at a life-changing, life-giving intervention through a hyper-niche community of weirdos on twitter because the entire alternative AND conventional health industries would never have gotten me here
We know a woman who recently became terribly ill suddenly, a woman with a gaggle of children from teenage to diapers. She went into a coma and all seemed lost, then came up for a few days and was able to see and speak with her children, her husband, her many relatives who traveled far to be by her side. My wife prayed for her night and day, starting each morning by reading the daily email update, praying again, and telling me the latest news. I recall one update, written so tenderly by this woman's mother, noting how long it had been since her daughter's beautiful curly hair had been washed and how sad that made my wife.
A couple days ago my wife told me along with the morning update that she'd seen this woman in a dream, that she was whole and happy and eating everything in sight. She really remembers the zeal with which she ate, how ravenous she was.
This morning she died.
Does God still speak to us in dreams? I'd have to know what you mean by speak. My wife didn't get any instruction, no grand new mission or revelation, but that was God speaking to her three nights ago. He showed her a vision of the near future, a reward for so faithfully weeping with the weeping, praying without ceasing, bearing another's burden. She saw the clean curly hair of a well woman feasting and it's all true now.
I have no data supporting it, but I think something like an “Italian tuneup” works for your body too. Just doing something at max effort, even for a really short time, somehow shakes things up inside you to help fix your body
Your life is a monument to God. Every action you take writes your story. Ugly deeds, weak will, sloth — all sculpt the form you will present him one day. Let each moment therefore become imbued with perfection, greatness, and vigor, that you may present him something worthy.
everything you are spending a lot of time on should be run through the basic audit
ask yourself:
>does it make me smarter
>does it make me healiter (+ mental health)
>does it make me money
are all of the answers negative? you are wasting your life
this is the part of creative work folks don’t wanna do: read, read, read, and reread the books that really speak to you. also! museums, galleries, TV that makes you feel something, and other cultural touch points that are not sexy at all…
