🏔️ How can a glacier cause a flash flood without a cloudburst?
High in the Himalayas, a chain reaction can unfold within minutes:
🧊 Ice–rock collapse → 🪨 River blocked → 🌊 Natural dam forms → 💥 Dam fails → ⚠️ Destructive surge downstream.
The recent Rasuwa flood in Nepal is a reminder that Himalayan flood hazards aren’t driven by rainfall alone.
Minutes upstream can mean disaster downstream.

@rameshofficial0 Each time I book a service, I have made it a point to ask the service provider to share their ordeals with me. When they confide in me, I hear stories akin to this particulars lady’s. The only reason they stick around is to make ends meet and lack of better alternatives.
@rameshofficial0 Their utter lack of concern for their field / ground staff, their bizarre pricing methodology (surcharge, cancellation charges, platform fee), and their mandatory rule for their field staff to procure all items from their brand itself, all these reflect serious discrepancies.
@rameshofficial0 Urban Company has become the most vicious personal service delivery company, not only for their employees but also for customers like us. I’ve been utilising their services since their inception, and I’ve only seen this company displaying the least work ethic possible.
@Iyervval@Suhelseth March ‘26: A terribly tiny tale of the “hidden costs” (a meagre 10k - they convinced us eventually), for the 20 flower(ing?) pots placed in aesthetic alignment at the engagement party hosted at the club, had me question it’s long standing proprieties.
@RahulChels Right. However, there are smart soft launches. Enough to indicate his job profile (with obvious perks), but clever enough to not overdo. I guess the B school degree helps her cause. Commendable.
@themodernhp Imposition of monetary penalties may be the sole deterrent factor in this and similar scenarios. Expectations of civic or even mere common sense to prevail would by default go in vain.
I don't have enough words to express my sadness & outrage on this mornings tragic murder of Brig Joshi (Retired). The roots of the law & order collapse in #Dehradun & #Uttarakhand lies in the web of corruption that has engulfed our state. A state that could have been a model state has instead turned out to be a safe haven for mafias, gangs & goons from across the country. We, the citizens demand safety & security and urge our govt & our chief minister to rise to the ocassion.

@ShivAroor While sir has rightly indicated his genuine fears for women travelling at night time, might I add that daytime offers no respite. What I experienced yesterday was not new, I usually give way to such individuals, however, yesterday’s incident left me in genuine fear for my life.
@ShivAroor This incident comes at a time when I was just reeling over a rash driving / speeding/ overtaking/ incessant honking episode by an HR number plate car driven by a young man near Vasant Kunj’s Nelson Mandela Road yesterday morning.
Geeta Gopinath explains why India is not suitable for investment, sadly 18% of death annually is caused by pollution!!
Modi PR agencies will wake up now..
Bihar, Bureaucracy and Babu-dom, the tales of which I vicariously revelled in during my childhood years in erstwhile Magadha, re-captivated my curiosity in this splendid work of #JayanathPati’s #FoolBahadur (As translated by @theabhayk ). This one piques the interest in the backdrop of a bustling state of administrative affairs and its fascinating characters embroiled in fulfilling their own political agendas, amidst the amusingly chaotic bureaucratic corridors. With wit galore, this Magahi masterpiece is enthralling till its last page, where Shakespeare’s verses quite humorously reverberate within the corners of my mind ~

And all the men and women merely players…”
