Butler National Corporation is proud to announce the opening and ribbon-cutting of the Avcon Industries, Inc. new 33,000-square-foot parts fabrication facility at Newton City-County Airport in Kansas.

✈️ Avcon Receives FAA STC Approval for Learjet Non-Halon Fire Extinguisher! 🧯

**EASA DEADLINE 12/31/2025**

Avcon Industries, Inc. announces the receipt of FAA STC No. ST12087CH authorizing the replacement of Halon fire extinguishers across the full line of Learjet aircraft. This approval allows operators to install the Avcon/Butler Avionics Halotron BrX-filled extinguishers, which are designed as size-equivalent replacements for ease of retrofit with minimal impact on fit and compatibility. An application for EASA validation of this STC is underway.

This STC issuance is timely. With Halon identified as an ozone-depleting substance, the Montreal Protocol and European Union regulations provide that all hand-held Halon fire extinguishers in aircraft cabins and crew compartments be replaced with suitable alternatives by December 31, 2025. Avcon’s FAA-approved solution gives Learjet operators an effective and compliant path moving forward. The approval applies to Learjet Models 24, 25, 29, 31, 31A, 35, 36, 35A (C-21A), 36A, 40, 45, 55, 55B, 55C, 60, 60XR, 70, and 75 aircraft.

We would like to address the airplane incident that occurred at the New Century Airport. We are very fortunate that no Butler personnel were injured when the plane impacted our hangar.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the two pilots who we saw walk out of the airplane to receive assistance from First Responders.

Neither the pilots nor the plane are affiliated with Butler.

We also take the opportunity to thank the First Responders, Airport Team and other professionals for their quick response!
