Altruism wants to see power/competence fail, and weakness/incompetence to succeed.

@MrExaminer This boils down to production and rest/ enjoyment. The two don't conflict, rest/enjoyment is the end goal. Production is it's sub-goal , what you have to do to get there.

The "life of contemplation" is a state where one is using/consuming/enjoying already existing values they have produced, and in that state you place less value on an additional unit of good because you want to enjoy/use what you already have, it's like you are in a state of rest/relaxation.

This "life of contemplation" is the ultimate end goal, but to get there you have to produce more , consumption is secondary to production.

When you are in the state of production, you place more value on an additional unit. You're trying to attain something out of what you already have.

So the value of an additional unit is different in these two states, but they don't conflict. Production serves consumption/enjoyment, it's necessary for it. You don't produce for the sake of it, it's you reach contemplation, and when you get there you lower your value of an additional.

We bounce between these two states when we produce and rest.

So if it's about earning, it wouldn't be given to govt. It's about depriving people of what they have.
