Ariana Afghan Airlines’ Damaged Boeing 737 Completes Test Flight Today.

Ariana Afghan Airlines has successfully conducted a test flight of a Boeing 737-400 that was substantially damaged during a takeoff incident at Khost International Airport nearly two years ago.

The aircraft, registration YA-PID, was operating flight FG403 from Khost to Dubai on August 23, 2024, when it overran the runway during takeoff and crossed the airport perimeter fence.

Despite sustaining significant damage to its aft fuselage and tail section, the crew managed to get the aircraft airborne and subsequently diverted to Kabul, where it landed safely. All 110 passengers and nine crew members were unharmed.

According to Ariana Afghan Airlines, the aircraft has now been repaired through the efforts of the airline’s technical and engineering teams, in coordination with Boeing, with its engines reinstalled.

On Monday, September 7, 2026 (1404/06/16), the aircraft conducted a test flight from Kabul under the command of Captain Mohammad Aziz Azim, Ariana’s Operations Deputy, in the presence of senior airline officials.

The test flight was intended to assess the aircraft’s technical systems, engines and other critical components and verify its readiness for a return to service.

The aircraft’s potential return to service would also provide additional capacity for Ariana’s network and support the expansion of air services in Afghanistan.

News! Air Cairo Closing In on Major Airbus A320 Family Deal

Egyptian low-cost carrier Air Cairo is reportedly nearing an agreement with Airbus for around 15 A320 family aircraft, with options for an additional 15 aircraft, potentially taking the total commitment to 30 jets.

According to Bloomberg, the deal could be finalized as early as this week as Air Cairo looks to secure delivery slots and support the next phase of its network and fleet expansion.

The airline has been rapidly growing its fleet and international footprint. In August, Air Cairo took delivery of its 40th aircraft — an Airbus A320neo, part of its ongoing fleet modernization strategy. The airline says its fleet now has an average age of around 5.5 years.

🚨 Update: Deadly Cargo Plane Crash at Miami International Airport

At least five people have died and five others were injured after an Amazon Prime Air cargo aircraft overran the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon, striking multiple vehicles and bursting into flames.

The Boeing 767-300, operated by 21 Air as Amazon Prime Air Flight 7598, had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when the accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. local time.

More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded as crews battled the intense fire and rescued people from the aircraft and surrounding vehicles. Three of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.

Portugal: Full biometric checks resume for non-EU travellers

Starting Sunday, September 6, 2026, Portuguese border authorities will resume the full collection of biometric data for eligible non-EU travellers subject to the EU Entry/Exit System (EES).

QANTAS QF122 DIVERTS TO CHRISTCHURCH AFTER ENGINE INCIDENT

A Qantas Boeing 737-800 operating flight QF122 from Queenstown to Sydney diverted to Christchurch on Saturday, September 5, after experiencing an engine issue shortly after takeoff.

The aircraft departed Queenstown at around 4:05 p.m. NZST. Witnesses on the ground reported hearing several loud bangs and seeing bursts of orange flames/fireballs from the aircraft’s left engine as it climbed away from Queenstown.
