I don't think you fully understood me. Knowing someone personally is no guarantee of their character. But an artist's words/actions/creative output can be a relatively good indicator of their personal values/morals/ethic. It's why Le Guin was able to clock R*wling via her work

@nonjnrr What I'm taking issue with is someone who's not a fan of an artist, trying to make a generalisation. Will a fan know everything about an artist? Obv not, but if you're consuming their media critically you will have some degree of understanding of their psyche & who they are

@styrofoamcrispy Just for clarity's sake I'm referring to Hanyu's YouTube membership. For people who tune in, it gives insights to his thoughts/creative process etc. Also being personal friends is no guarantee of knowing someone, critical media consumption however can be a useful tool to do so

@SAMA27749 Knowing someone personally is no guarantee of their character anyway so this kinda falls flat. On the other hand if one is discerning, an artist's political/moral/ethical stances are relatively easy to glean by analysing their creative output.

And tmk the claim about Mozalev was pushed by Russian propagandists to bury the early reports of the doping & disqualification. Fanyus are the favourite bogeyman 🙄
