The H1B is valid for 6 years max but if you did your full green card application and therefore just in the waitlist to get your GC, you can renew your H1B indefinitely as long as employed until you get your GC. Indians have ~10y of waitlist

@GulagMember1029 @SinoopyS @davepl1968 They literally cannot go over the cap other than a small buffer, so if the 3m number of H1Bs is accurate, then it’s due to a combination of the two things I said above. Or maybe there are less H1Bs than this number, or they include spouse of H1Bs. But they can’t go over the cap

@GulagMember1029 @SinoopyS @davepl1968 It’s a combination of (1) the program existing for a while (with each year bringing about 85k), with Indians/Chinese being stuck on it forever while waiting for the green card because of their wait list and (2) some professions that are exempts from the cap (see screen below)

@GulagMember1029 @SinoopyS @davepl1968 No because a lot of the selected applications get rejected. The number of approved applications vary between 85-100k typically, so a bit more than 85k sometimes.

The reason they select more than the cap is because they statistically reject a bunch of applications after selection

@darth_thanos @davepl1968 Also reforming the H1B requires 60 senators, which we won’t get unless we give something for the Dreamers to the Dems, which I suspect we will not. I think that’s why the H1B program has remained as is with all its flaws — because neither the Dems nor the Reps manage to get 60

@Jouhatsu_ai Les suisses millionnaires sont parmi les 40% qui sont propriétaires. La propriété est difficile d’accès en raison du nombre limité d’offres et de prix très élevés. Pas d’impôt sur les successions et donc un enrichissement generationel à travers l’immobilier qui est massif
