@iamnotapartyguy@FuckCarsReddit There are plenty of small grocers in older suburban areas (think 30-40 years old). Newer developments have weird zoning restrictions that disallow commercial property.
@Boenau Your second point is also pure conjecture. Most pedestrians are killed on the open road in dark conditions because of speed. By definition only a fraction of the people killed in intersections are because of RTOR collisions.
@RoegerMichael@Boenau “Raised crosswalks are not speed bumps” - if the point isn’t to get drivers to slow down then what exactly is the point?
“Drivers turning right on red kills people” - most pedestrians are killed on the open road, not at intersections.
@Mog_of_War @KostelecPlan @JerryTurin@Errorreporrt@Boenau This is honestly irrelevant. The cost of public services are shared entirely by the public whether they use them or not. The reason people who walk or use bikes shouldn’t be allowed to share the middle of the road with cars is because it is obviously unsafe.
@KostelecPlan @JerryTurin@Mog_of_War@Errorreporrt@Boenau No I think motorists believe people who walk or bike shouldn’t be allowed to do so in the middle of a road because they understand it to not be safe. Almost no-one assumes roads are only funded by gas taxes - that’s where the “Muh roads” meme comes from: tax in general.
