๐จRoad Closure - County Road 625 East๐จ
Officers have County Road 625 East closed in both directions near the railway bridge as a result of a head-on collision with injuries.
Please avoid the area at this time.
๐จSnow Storm Update๐
If you have been out in the last few hours, you know that roadways have deteriorated quite a bit and visibility is poor. As snowfall continues to mount, please consider using primary roadways, reducing your speed, avoiding unnecessary travel, and continue consuming vast amounts of French toast in the comfort of your home.
Officers will certainly continue patrols throughout the night, but if you can tag your best friends and ask them to avoid engaging in criminal activity during this storm, that would be swell. Our officers would sure appreciate the break.
We want to take a moment to thank everybody for being patient and respectful in traffic yesterday as our agency assisted in escorting Deputy Summer Jenkins to her final resting place earlier yesterday afternoon.
Much appreciation to Washington Township / Avon Fire Department and Plainfield Fire Territory for hoisting the garrison flag in front of Avon High School.
Thank you, Avon. Thank you.
๐จLaw Enforcement Officer Procession๐
On Monday December 30th beginning at approximately 2:00 p.m. law enforcement officers from the Clark County, Ohio Sheriffโs Department, Indiana State Police, Hendricks County Sheriff's Department, Plainfield Police Department, and our agency will be assisting in the escort of fallen officer Summer Jenkins who will be laid to rest near Avon on Monday afternoon.
Summer graduated from Avon High School in 2015 with honors as she was involved in cross country, track & field, and played the viola for the Avon Orchestra. Summer went on to embark upon her career in law enforcement with the Colerain Police Department, Cedarville Police Department, and then the Clark County Sheriff's Department. Funeral services have been held in Ohio, however officers will be escorting her procession from Ohio to include a pass by Avon High School.
The intended route includes the arrival of the procession from westbound U.S. Hwy 40 through Plainfield, northbound Dan Jones, westbound C.R 150 South, northbound Avon Avenue, eastbound U.S. Hwy 36, to northbound I465.
Burial services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in the Heroes of Public Safety Section. We will try to update the public on the expected arrival time, so that you may have the opportunity to pay respects along the route.
Earlier this month, Officer Cheek, Officer Michael, and Officer Roach were recognized by the American Police Hall of Fame for their actions by receiving the Life Saving Award!
These officers responded to an incident inwhich a male subject was armed with a knife and had stabbed/injured an individual. Upon their arrival to the scene, officers located and subdued the suspect without further incident and the victim was treated for injuries.
Great work gentlemen! We are proud and lucky to have you here in Avon!
๐ Ride To School Honored ๐
We strive to connect with our community in many ways, including the occasional โRide to School with an Officerโ for local fundraising opportunities!
Officers Childers had an awesome opportunity to escort these 2 young ladies to Hickory Elementary School in style! What an awesome photo and a great experience to share with our community!
Please join us in congratulating Jon Flowers on his promotion to the rank of Sergeant!
Officers who apply for promotions are scored and evaluated in several areas of performance including a written examination, interview panel, performance evaluations, and longevity with our agency.
All promotion processes are administered by the Avon Police Merit Commission, who certify the methodology and scoring process to ensure the integrity of all promotions.
Congratulations Sergeant Flowers!
