5/6 Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. These guns just make killing people incredibly easy. People will always kill, and they’ll use whatever they’ve got. The question before us is: how easy should we make it for them? As a society, we can decide how easy.
4/6 In a few years, firearms will include weapons that today only exist in science fiction, such as the laser gun or other weapons not yet imagined. Are 2nd-Amendment absolutists good with this trend, because whatever a “gun” is in the future will be even more unstoppable.
3/6 It is self-evident that semi-automatic rifles and similarly lethal guns are weapons of mass destruction. When one can walk into a room and just spray bullets, that is something against which there can be no real defense. “Good guy with a gun” can never get there in time.
2/6 Some might object that “arms” as the founders knew them were guns. True, they had no notion of nuclear war, but neither could they have envisioned these guns. In 1788, the max number of musket balls that could be fired in a minute was 3. For AR-style rifles it is 45.
1/6 The right to own arms is not absolute. The Constitution states that “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” And if the right to bear arms is absolute, then that includes all arms, even nuclear arms.
And I kind of thought whatever this is, I don't have time for it. I have a three o'clock. - @AvrelSeale#Stroke#Author#Strokecast https://t.co/xskJ3TNS6n
